I was accepted into the Republican club at college!

I am so excited! I applied for it and was accepted today. On Monday I go to the Republican Headquarters and help make phone calls and all that jazz. At the college I'll get to help people register to vote and I'll get to hang out with other people who are interested in the same things as me. Oh and by the way, most of the people are actually Libertarians who registered Republican so that they could vote in our state's primaries. Oh I'm so excited! This is going to be a great way to meet people!

Oh and here's some political humor from the club's message board haha.

"A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me,can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am." The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican." "I am,"replied the man. "How did you know?" "Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault"

Here's hoping you can convince them to get in touch with (or become a "junior version" of) compasionaterepublicans.com!

Anyway, congrats and have fun, dear! It's always good to be with like-minded people.

    congrats:thumbsup:

More "actual republicans"in contrast to "religious fanatics" are needed among "Republicans" so maybe even I can be on republican's side. in fact I like the original principles of republican party, but all have long been forgotten by this party!

I cant really tell what republicans stand for these days because of all the mixed signals u get, the are supposed to favor "small government" and stay the f out of peopls personal business, yet again u can seek McCains opinion on even "medical marijuana"! same applies to many more things!

so some are stuck with the only other major alternative which is democrats, who i must say maybe slightly better than "today's republicans" on certain issues.

we need more people like u in there!:hippy:

First of all, congratulations on getting into the club. I abstain from politics due to apathy, but I have much respect for those who do involve themselves.

Secondly, I don't find your quote from the bulletin board humorous, rather it reads like a joke from a first grader who's parents are far right as you can take yourself. The man says at the end, "... somehow, now it's my fault". Where exactly does the woman say anything about it being his fault that she is lost? The joke tries to assume that any democrat who gets in a hot air balloon will not have a way of navigating themselves. I know, I know... it's supposed to be a channel to get a point across, but damn this is terrible. The part that reads, "You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep"; Does that not apply to every politician?

Yes, Libertarian is real nice. But even better is you volunteering and making a difference. As long as you belive in what your doing, it's right. Bravo!

I'm no Republican (Independant who votes the candidate not party) but I'm glad you're involved, Rebgirl.
