Obama: What qualifies him to be the President?

What major accomplishment or legislation has this guy presented or passed that qualifies him to be either the candidate of change or the President of the U.S.? Out of ALL the candidates, including the V.P. selections, this dude seems to have the weakest resume.

    Have a good one!:s4:

The talk of "change" is a joke. There will never be change at the presidential level. As far as being qualified, he's as qualified as any other American. As we've seen countless times any idiot can be president.

Obama: What qualifies him to be the President?

I support him more for his policies, priorities, plans and judgement than his experience.

I have some misgivings about his short elected experience too. But as I said in a different thread, I think people are going to look past this experience problem soon, especially once we get into the debates.

It's obvious that Obama does not have the length of experience that McCain has. Experience is valuable, but what EXACTLY is the value of experience? The value of experience is that it gives you judgement. Experience teaches you about issues, how to react to situations, and helps you make good decisions. Some people have that kind of good judgement with only a little experience, while some people who have a lifetime of experience never develop good judgement. I think Obama has good judgement and a good understanding of the issues despite having fewer years than McCain.

Maybe that's the same kind of thinking McCain used to pick Palin despite her lack of experience --- maybe he thought that she had good judgement, or maybe it was something else. Whatever it was, he thought she had something that made her worthy of being president despite her lack of expereice, although I can't really figure it out. Or maybe McCain has bad judgement despite his many years of expereince and picked her for a bad reason.

As for Obama's experience, I think everyone knows about the basic history: community organizer, Illinois State Senate for 8 years, US Senate for 4 years.

His time in the Illinois State Senate included work on the state Earned Income Tax Credit and expansion of early childhood education.

His time in the US Senate included work with Tom Coburn to allow you to go online and see how and where your tax money is spent. He has worked on ethics reform. He is working with Dick Lugar on nuclear non-proliferation and securing Russian nukes. He is working to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards for cars.

Obama is 26 years younger than McCain, so he doesn't have the same record, but personally, I agree with his platform, and that's why I am going to vote for Obama.

If he can have good command of issues in the debates and show that he has good policies and good judgement, people will come around to that. If not, then he won't win.

This is going to be a very long thread with no substance! Dragon probably just gave the best answer possible, but when you have so little to work with, what can you do.

Not going to be an issue thankfully!
I am shocked that with all the liberals here, only 1 could kind of come up with any sort of reference as to Obama's experience and accomplishments.
    Well, that's a lie. I am not shocked.

    Agreed.

punk or not, the real issue is not experience.

i say with mccain we are buying our ticket to WW III, in continuation of Bush's foreign policy.

and trust me if there is such a war-hopefully not- the whole world will be devastation, humanity will be destroyed, no 1 country will stand up as a winner cuz our planet will be a messed up place with 10k+ nuclear warheads in too many hands!

I sometimes wonder, really, do we even notice the choices we make, impact the whole world far more than they impact the domestic issues?

everyone cares about what these people say about health care, SS, education etc... no1 seems to care about foreign policy, until some1 attacks us, which ofcourse any president will have some kind of aggressive policy, whether Obama or McCain or Bush!

The "main reason" we have security issues now, is because of our mistakes in foreign policies of our past!

we helped out very same people who supposedly attacked us in 2001, to help contain communism as a major foreign policy of a few presidents!

and now we all and the rest of the world pays the price of it every day!

sure, there are idiots in the world, but we are not heavenly innocent beings either... we have innocents' bloods on our hands and unjustifiable wars in our history! too much meddling with internal affairs of other countries as well. go and read up!

and yet we fail to learn the lesson or find the sources of problems!

Can someone tell me what year this is? 2004?
    Good lord!
At least there will be alot of cheap entertainment for the next 4, er, I mean 12 years, for sure!

Look at this, delete one sentence, and wala! It's an anti-Bush, blame America rant from the 2004 election cycle!

Obama: What qualifies him to be the President?

    fuck!!!!
i hate this 10mins edit time limit. it always screws me over when i wanna finetune my post or add points to it, and when u type all the added crap and click, bam! its all lost! hope we can have it extended to 15 or 20 at least!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

here is the extension to my previous post:

    about domestic vs foreign issues:

We have had dems and rep's comin and going in white house and congress for decades now and we STILL struggle without any conclusion on our healthcare, SS, welfare, tax system, education, and the list goes on!

and i know security is now a big issue, but this is directly related to our foreign policy - so far i only have seen tough-boy style warmongering and bullying, close to 0 diplomacy.

1 thing is sure about McCain: He has executive & military experience and he WILL follow his predecessor's path. Prove me wrong and ill give u a candy

A smart person with mere theory knowledge of martial arts and human body, can kill or subdue an experienced street fighter with one or few fatal move(s)

in case of any fight for your life situation, he has higher chance of winning than the experienced guy.

point being: in the situation we have right now experience is not what really matters, POLICY, LOGIC & THINKING are the factors!

that is IF we are looking for any difference than what we got from bush's terms! then mccain is not the one to choose no matter what!

fight fire with fire is just too old and risky and costly these days, there are better ways that the smarter people know about n r likely to follow: go @ fire with water and foam! lol

"Although ancient writers from Plato to Erasmus cautioned that one should not add fire to fire, this warning is not incorporated in the idiom, which was first recorded in Shakespeare's Coriolanus."
Ride the Lightning: Information from Answers.com

perhaps we have better reasoning than the logic-masters mentioned above, pushing the experience factor, an experience that so far has been quite disastrous! i mean who is to gauge and against what measure to tell us the world is a safer place now, maybe our asses is a bit safer till the moment we are in war killing everyone and everything in other locations and making a mess of other countries, but how long u think we can be doing that to be safe?
mccain believes that can be extended to 100 years if needed!

    see my point?

not that Obama wont WAR if needed or he's a pussy, but I'm sure he will take better advantage of diplomacy than McCain ever is willing to!

Obama: What qualifies him to be the President?

    Well,
Not only would I rather have McCain in office, but I would vote for Bush again if he were the running against Obama. So maybe that'll give you some perspective on where I am coming from at least. You're right that policy matters, again, that is why I would never ever vote for Obama.
