What difference would it make which way you lean? The way I see it my if someone doesn't like my perspective in politics... well that's their problem not mine. I will try to explain my point of view to them but I don't ever worry if someone thinks I'm conservative or liberal.. annoyed sure, but care... not at all.
I have no shame in my beliefs.
Ha ha! I don't have any shame in my beliefs either, and really it would not have been a problem. But I had that momentary FLASH of seeing the look on my brother-in-law's face if he came into the room and saw a three-foot-tall image of Bill O'Reilly's face frozen there on the TV. *I* don't like O'Reilly that much and would have felt the need to explain why I was watching a show I don't even like that much, sort of the same embarrassment I would have if someone saw me watching "Dancing with the Stars." It would have been fine, but I would have probably had to put up with being ribbed about it at family barbeques for the rest of my life. If you knew the family dynamic, you'd see the humor in the situation.
LMFAO!!
How many times have I told you "better be careful, they are going to kick you out of the club!" Things like having an "open mind" and ever, ever, agreeing with anything a conservative may say ARE NOT TOLERATED BY REAL DEMOCRATS!!! I keep telling you, they are gonna find out, you will be the next Lieberman!(Just wait till you go to vote and Obama's wife is standing there at your voting booth, tapping her feet with her arms crossed, eyeballing you!)
I can picture your face 2 steps from the door when you realize "holy shit!"
P.S.
You know how I can tell you are a closet conservative?
YOU DVR'D O'REILLY!
HISSSSSSSSSS! OOOOOOOOOOOOH! JEEEEEEEEEEEER! TSK TSK TSK, SHAKING HEAD LOOKING DOWN!
Actually, even these family members who are much more partisan in their politics are not "liberals" in the normal sense of the word. The brother-in-law is a small business owner, loves off-roading through the winderness, loves owning and shooting very powerful guns, ambivalent about things like gay marriage. He's a very partisan Democrat that comes from his family tradition of supporting Democrats during the civil rights days, working-class roots, economic policies, and kitchen table issues like healthcare. He's more conservative about things like gun ownership and environmental regulation. I come to the Democratic party for totally different reasons, like envoronmental reponsibility. I'm conservative on other things like fiscal responsibility. He's just very partisan in his support, despite disagreeing with the Democrats on some issues, and he likes liberal commentators like Oberman.
I don't think the timing of the airing of the interview was Obama's choice or an attempt to "steel the thunder." That was up to the show. It was actually taped on a different day, wasn't it?
Nope, same day. I recall that because after the interview it was said that O'Reilly was jetting to the convention for McCains speech.
