The conventions have never been intended to hold speeches of substance. I didn't give the DNC too much crap over their speeches either. I'm waiting for October to come because that's when candidates really start to release more and more details of their intentions in specifics.

Conventions are made for "hype". Which is why I have a hard time getting into them or taking them seriously. I give both parties a free pass.. I consider this like their version of mardi gras. Just a bunch of mindless idiots gathering together to catch beads (feed their egos).

Now if only we could get some boobie action going.. that's a convention I'd be into :thumbsup:

almost all the recent ones are between 40-60% which tells me on avg half of the country didnt like what the presidents did in their terms regardless of which party he was from!

I certainly wish the Democrats had been able to lick Bush and Dick in the last election. Unfortunately that was not to be, and now they have been screwing us mercilessly ever since.

Now that Dick and Bush have termed out, the nation is faced with a choice between pair of boobs on one hand, and a pair of boobies on the other (accompanied by one very old man who seem intent to "reach across the aisle" to those very same boobies). Given Palin's speech last night, whoever we elect, it seems we are likely to get at least four balls out of it, assuming McCain didn't lose one in captivity. I just hope that however it turns out, we the people don't end up being made the asses.

I had wondered why there were all the wierd spellings of "new-clear" in the Palin speech that Kush had posted. Like this one:

Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more new-clear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal and other alternative sources.

It turns out that is how it was spelled in the actual official text as it was released to the press and as it ran on the teleprompter during the speech. In her earlier speech a week earlier she had pronounced it Geroge-Bush-style "nook-you-lar," so they spelled in phonetically for her in the speech so she wouldn't mispronounce it again. In her next speech, they'll probably spell Iran "eeeee-ron."
