Desperately need info on hair drug tests

I might be having a drug test coming up soon. I know for sure they will ask for a urine sample but im also thinking they might also want a hair sample as well. This drug test will be administered by the Department Of Transportation.
I stopped smoking in mid May, took and failed a drug test (urine) for a job on
July 14th, didnt get the job.
I just need to know how long can marijuana be detected in a hair sample.
I think my urine might be clean by now. I sent a urine sample to a lab and it came back clean. They used a EMIT test by the way to test that sample.
If anyone knows anything and can share info about hair samples, hair drug tests, I would really appreciate it.
Also, is there anything I can do to increase my chances of passing a hair sample drug test?

I pretty much am bald. I've had a buzz cuts since I was 8. The things is that if you dont have it on your head they can just get it from anywhere they can find it.

LOL!. Yes even your sweaty balls. Thats why I said they can pretty much get it from anywhere it grows.
Man its been since May that i've smoked. I wish I could just take one bong hit. Just one. :bonghit:

I love it when people say shave. Tell me, how is that going to help you pass. That's like going for a urine test and saying "I can't go" and them saying ok you passed.

If you don't have about 3/4 of an inch of hair they can go for alternate sites which is usually the arms then either armpits or chest or stomach then pubic as last resort. If you have no hair they can fail you for refusal to give sample or take shaving from nails.

The test can go back about 1 & 1/2 inches of hair which is about 90 days. If you smoke 3 times (normal getting high session) in 90 days with 1 & 1/2 inches of hair length, you are in danger of failing.

I don't think DOT uses hair tests.

FYI almost all if not all drug tests whether urine or hair or saliva or blood they use immunoassay first to test then all non negative samples are confirmed using GC/MS. EMIT is one type of immunoassay used in drug testing.

End of May is going to be pushing it close if you are a heavy smoker because there are two lag times. THC metabolites will continue to deposit in the hair for about 3-4 days after smoking (you can fail a urine test but at that point most people are depositing so little THC metabolites in hair that it is below the detection level, it's not a zero tolerance test but close) and then 7-10 days for that last dirty hair to go out far enough to be cut.

There are a few things you can do to reduce THC metabolites in the hair. Do a little search and you'll find them.

While drug testing in general is an invasion of your privacy as THC urine, saliva, and hair testing really doesn't prove whether you are using marijuana while working, you are asking them to hire you. No one is forcing you to apply for that job that drug tests.

Now if you don't know about hair testing, then why guess at it. People's jobs, freedom, and children are often at stake so guesses are not helpful. Yes, there are shampoos available that help remove THC metabolites, not mask them. There are other things one can do to reduce THC metabolite concentration in hair from chemicals to hair styling treatments and the OP can do a search on this and ask more specific questions later.
