 That's what I did on my first grow and they were just fine. The slight drawback though, is unless the seeds you've got are all feminised, you'll end up preparing a larger quantity of soil mix than you'll need.  These days, I tend to start them off in biodegradable seedling pots and then replant only the females in the larger pots (after they've shown sex - about 17 to 21 days). Same results, but a saving on: compost, perlite, ferts etc.
