Algae growth in soil

Hello all and thanks for stoppin in!

I germinated my seeds with the wet paper towel method and it worked fine they all popped in 2 days.

I put them into 12oz pop cans with holes in the bottom and watered them and put them under a dome to keep humidity up (~60%)

Now I am noticing some green growth in the soil around the base of the little plants. I put holes in the sides of the cans after i saw the growth starting to make sure that the soil was drying up a bit. But now I'm just wondering what I should do to get rid of the algae. Perhaps some H202?

These seedlings are less than a week old and are on there 2nd set of leaf growth and some are wilting a little bit but I might have overdone the watering/misting a bit.

Personally I would loose the dome!!!

The extra humidity will just make it worse, from your description of the plants, I don't think the dome is needed.

I would just let the top of the soil dry out, and water as needed.

Just my 2cents, please wait for the veteran growers on this.

Well I just decided to toss them rather than deal with problems along the road. Plus I really don't think I'd have enough time to finish them before moving and I'd hate to get like halfway through flowering and have to chop them lol. They weren't any special seeds anyways so no loss there.

Hopefully some day my thumbs will be green again.

There's nothing inherently wrong with algae. You should see my ebb n flow table hahha.
Algae is NOT harmful to plants; however it thrives in the same conditions that rot likes (except algae likes light and rot doesn't care much).
Lose the dome, and you gotta read up on your sprouting technique. Drain holes have to be in place from day one.
