Really, so I guess that they kept talking about change, change change but no direct insight as to what "change" will take place. Honestly his campaign slogan of hope and change have got to be both the best idea and worst idea ever. Best idea because it is so vague and something no one is going to say they don't want "No I don't want any hope.. No I don't want any promising changes to the future". It is so good in fact that he has recruited countless people on this mantra alone. Ask your average person on the street what Obama is going to change or some of his legislative achievements and 7/10 won't be able to give you a legitimate answer.

No, being able to give a speech is neither a qualifier or dequalification in my eyes. I look at candidates histories. I feel this gives better insight than any BS that might spew out of their mouths. Transcripts and voting records don't lie.I understand that giving a great speech is not a qualification for being a president, but is being a bumbling, speaking disabled, reader of other peoples speeches a disqualification?
People are so hung up on "being inspired". You know what, I don't need someone to inspire me, I need someone to take care of business. To take charge and be able to make the hard decisions that WE are going to hate him for, but have to be done. That's who I want in the white house and Obama simply doesn't fit the bill.I am sure excited to see McCain get up there at the RNC in his monotone and inspire nobody.
If you want to be inspired I suggest you go see a motivational speaker. Hell, maybe we should put up a motivational speaker. I bet he would be able to do just as well as Obama.
Sigh.. i can't believe you would even say that. In a way this statement was racist in itself. Good job laying down a stereotype and categorizing all people that are "rednecks", as you say, as being racist. That was very kind of you. :hippy:Here's to hoping his speech does not have the impact that MLK's speech had. I sure don't want too many racist redneck's to be gunning for the next president!

I am no Obama supporter but this is really stretching it and disrespectful in general. I would chastise anyone who compared another candidate to Hitler. I don't feel anyone can compare to the amount of damage and chaos that man unleashed onto the world.

Unless his speech discussed world domination and genocide of a race of people then I'd have to say he is nothing like Hitler.

That's one of the things his speech touched on, he gave a bunch of specifics last night. Maybe you should watch it before commenting?

You know how John Kerry was "the most liberal Senator" in 2004 and now Obama has the same label in 2008? There's a reason for that. Kerry and Obama were both campaigning, and missed a lot of senate votes. Because they typically only made it a point to show up for the bills that the senate was divided on, they did not vote on the more bipartisan bills that would pass with or without their support. Hence, the "most liberal senator" label. No, being able to give a speech is neither a qualifier or dequalification in my eyes. I look at candidates histories. One person can only do so much. But if he can inspire hundreds of thousands of people to get on board and help, many more problems can be solved.People are so hung up on "being inspired". He wasn't referring to all rednecks, just the racist ones. And I hope he manages to survive a presidency as well. It won't be long before someone with a few screws loose upstairs decides Obama is the antichrist and that God is sending him on a mission to destroy said beast. To be honest, my heart skipped a beat when I was watching Obama's DNC speech and I heard the fireworks go off.Sigh.. i can't believe you would even say that. In a way this statement was racist in itself. Good job laying down a stereotype and categorizing all people that are "rednecks", as you say, as being racist. That was very kind of you. :hippy:

Watch the speech yourself. He talked about tax cuts for certain segments of the middle class, and said that taxes will not go up for 95% of Americans. He also talked about eliminating our dependence on middle eastern oil in ten years, although that isn't as hard as it sounds since our largest supplier of oil is Canada. But really, watch the speech yourself.

I said he's shorter on specifics than he was in 2007, not that he isn't specific at all anymore. But of course, you can only think in black and white. Spoken like a true Republican.

It would be George Bush Stupid for Obama to have gotten on stage and outlined his specific moves to enact his change. Do you think the public or the people sitting in their seats for hours would have enjoyed or benefited from that? Hardly. He has two months to outline these things. There is a time and place. He gave one of the greatest speeches any generation has ever heard. Respect Due.
Content.
Less taxes for 95% of the population.
Increased taxes for the top 5% wealthiest.
Tax breaks for companies that create jobs in America
Increased Taxes for companies that send jobs overseas
Same health care coverage for you and I that John McCain has had Us pay for, for him...
Energy independent in 10 Years...CLEAN!
So ya'll wanted him to present a powerpoint presentation with graphs and lots of math. Right...that would not have been a great idea.
Not being able to speak or give speeches very well should have been a disqualification for becoming president. That way we would not be in Iraq, and could have spent the Billions of dollars we are spending there on developing our own national clean energy infrastructure. YOU WERE ALL LIED TO. By a bumbling idiot who's most important moment in office, according to him, was catching a Bass in a lake.
"To take charge and be able to make the hard decisions that WE are going to hate him for, but have to be done. That's who I want in the white house and Obama simply doesn't fit the bill."
Did GW fit the bill? Is killing civilians in a foreign country what you mean by"have to be done"? What has he done that had to be done? What has McCain done that HAD to be done?
"Sigh.. i can't believe you would even say that. In a way this statement was racist in itself. Good job laying down a stereotype and categorizing all people that are "rednecks", as you say, as being racist. That was very kind of you. "
Who said all rednecks were rascist? NOT ME. Are you disputing that Racist rednecks exist in this country? I was pointing out that i hope Obama remains safe from them. Is that OK?
I have read three Hitler references in a week from republicans on this forum. Really folks? Is this just blatant ignorance of the past or scare tactics learned from the current administration. Watch out were on level RED...we need immunity to listen in on American's phone conversations....A JOKE! The patriot act is a disgrace to the Republican party and all Republicans

If you say he didn't list specifics you didn't watch the speech. I look forward to McCain's speech, i doubt he will compare.

I have yet to hear HOW?
That's intentional on his part. Obviously he would need to dumb things down for the kool aid drinkers in attendance I guess?
I would also like to know what specifically in his speech is going to have any significant impact on America say 45 years from now. The answer, nothing.
I would like to know whom he defines as "middle class", it's also worth pointing out, the top 3% of income earners in the U.S., pay 97% of all the income taxes. So apparently they aren't paying their fair share huh? OK.
I think as far as Obama's safety is concerned, you should worry about the racists in the Dixiecrat, oh I mean Democrat party.
I wonder what libs will do when Bush is gone and completely out of the picture. How will they respond to the tough questions when they can't invoke what they percieve as the "evils of Bush" in any debate no matter the topic.
Oh, there I go again assuming the people that do this now would even comprehend that doing so is completely out of a position of weakness, of course they will just keep doing it! Silly me!
