    vaccume seal w/fruit

I have and Idea and I would like some input, please. i am going to harvest soon and this is my virginity we are talking about. I recently bought a vaccume sealer and was woundering after I let my buds dry correctly, if when I seel them, if it would be a good idea to put a orange peel or apple peel in the bag. Im thinking, put the slice towards the end so that it doesnt acctualy touch the buds.
do you think this would be a great way to get some sented aroma from you buds, or will it just cause problems with hydration to the buds, and cause mold. thanks for your reply:jointsmile:

I would jar them if you want to add fruit aromas or moisture back due to over drying. I think vacuum sealing will keep the aroma from reaching the buds unless some air is left in the bag. I also wouldn't leave the peel in the jar for more than a couple weeks and be sure to keep an eye on them for mold. I also wouldn't vacuum seal them until after you're finished curing them.

Personally, I think if you want orange flavored buds you need to get the seeds for orange flavored buds. Just appreciate the flavors and aromas of what you have instead of trying to change it. You may end up with moldy or bitter buds because you were trying to improve them.

IMHO the best thing you can do is a proper dry and cure. One to two weeks drying and a month cure, minimum. I know this seems like a long time but it's well worth the effort. It will improve the flavor and the high. I've had buds that smelled like nothing but skunk when dried but after a good cure had a great sweet berry flavor with a skunk undertone. The high can go from one hour to four hours with some cured buds as well. I've had Haze hybrid buds that didn't taste like anything but green and barely got you high. After a six month cure they became tropical fruit sour flavored and damn the high almost killed me! :stoned:

    Hope this helps.

    Blessed be~

I'd worry about mold. but this sparked an idea (pun intended) what if you dipped something (small peice of paper towel) in extract while curing? there is orange, mint, baileys, peppermint..tons of flavors.

put the weed in the freezer (or was that fridge... no freezer), in an air tight container with the fruit next to it. It's magical ^^.

Wouldn't the vacuum sealer smash the buds, knocking off trichs, which woud stick to the plastic and be lost forever? They also sell flavored additives to put on smoke after it is cured if you want flavoring. I think the fruit would add moisture back to the bag, which would then be wet and tend to mold. If you do this, I would recommend nuking in microwave to kill mold spores, seems a lot of trouble without much gain.

whenever i have really really dry buds i put them in a freezer ziploc bag then cut up a whole lemon/orange/apple/whatever fruit put it in a small ziploc bag and put it into the larger bag. close it up for a day or two and it moistens the dry bud and leaves it with a nice flavor/smell... however i would not leave the same fruit in there for longer than 2-3 days and would NEVER vacuum seal them. Only reason to vacuum seal is to reduce volume of large amount of bud for transport however there are other methods used additionally to cut down on chance of smell as well which i will not talk about but i wouldnt vacuum seal... if your goal is storing it let them dry and put in jam canning jar and just put in your fridge maybe wrap it up in a couple black garbage bags if you open your fridge lots but i mean if you are going to be smoking it within a month this is probably redundant

how did that work, i'm quit curious and would like to hear your response or if you guys have found any other methods that work better, like using lemon concentrate or cinnamon sticks or something... and would you guys recommend only using a small amount like a half ounce for the first time and also for how long would you leave it in there... half hour, few days, or what because i have no idea.
