    DNC...boring............

Is it just me? Is the DNC very boring.

Seems to be trying to run on the backs of 1960's Kennedy! Too much emphasis on Kennedy's? 50 years ago regime? Sure, Teddy's contribution is great, but he couldn't get elected for Pres.!

I do not seem to find the relevance! Other than Kennedy was white, Irish and catholic! People actually Feared the Pope would run the U.S.A.! Are we suppose to draw black, Kenya/American and has he found a new church? I don't even think the Kennedy's were that involved in Teddy's run!

I recall some shit Kennedy did. I recall, people staying home from work to dig bomb bunkers in their backyards! While JFK sent to Cuba for cigars, prior to placing our nation at risk! Young and wreckless! Not to mention, JFK was on opiates most of the time, from his wartime injuries!

Yes, I watched the past 2 days, thinking, it has to get better! My interest has disapated!

It seems I've enjoyed the DNC's and RNC's much more in the past years! They seemed uplifting. I am not being lifted up by that, anyway! Are you?

    DNC...boring............

I've watched both nights and thought so far it has been OK. Some in the past have been exciting too, but this has been good.

All the emphasis on Teddy Kennedy yesterday had more to do with the fact that he is dying and will probalby not be around for another convention --- and he is the very last of that generation of Kennedys. I never cared that much for him, but he is a long-time fixture in the party and very popular with the party faithful, and they found his speech inspiring. I guess it was important to "hand the torch" to the next generation.

I liked the little tribute film to Teddy, and I liked Carolyn Kennedy's speech to introduce Teddy, and her commentary afterward during the CNN interviews. Carolyn Kennedy was invloved with the VP vetting, and I really liked it when Wolf Blitzer asked her to "walk us through the process" and why Hillary Clinton was not vetted, and she told him, "No. I'm not going to walk you through the process. It's a confidential process." I can't stand Wolf Blitzer, and I like it when anyone tells him off.

Michelle Obama's speech yesterday was good, as was the intro film about her. She did a good job introducing herself and Barack to people who have not tuned in till now. It was well done, and she gave a good sense of herself as someone you can relate to. Her kids were cute and funny when they were talking to their dad via satelite after the speech. She would be a very different and interesting kind of first lady.

Tonight was a better night. Former governor Warner of Virginia did a good job drawing the differences between McCain and Obama. I thought the governor of Montana (if that is who he was) was sort of odd --- kind of used-car-sales-man-like --- he had some wierd way of emphasizing his points with over-the-top gestures. Strange. But the crowd seemed to like him.

And I thought Hillary did a great job. I don't actually like Hillary that much, but I thought this was the best I had ever seen her. She is not that great at delivering speaches, but this one she delivered very well. Sometimes it seems with the Clintons, it's all about them, even if it SHOULD be about something else --- given that kind of expectation, she did a great job of throwing her support behind the party and behind Barack Obama, and only made it a little bit about herself. Pretty good for her. She was able to thank her supporters and then basically tell them to get over it, she's a good Democrat, and she supports the party and supports Barack, and they should do it too. She made the point several times and fairly strongly that the race was not about her (which is not totally true) but was about the Democratic ideals, and they need to get over her, and get on with winning for the sake of those ideals. I'm not a big fan, but I thought she did a great job.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow with Bill Clinton --- he always delivers a great speech. And Joe Biden --- he is a tough campaigner and he is likely to tear McCain and Bush a new one. He and Bill will be the pitbulls this year.

And I'm looking forward to Thursday with Barack Obama --- he always gives a great speech.

Given the really strong "performers" that the Democrats have put up so far and those yet to come, I am wondering what the Republicans will be able to do to match it. Do thay have anyone who can deliver the "zazz?" Conventions are a lot about spectacle and energy, and I don't see the Republicans being able to match this show. Certainly when McCain takes the stage on the final night, it's going to blow-your-brains-out dull --- like watching your grandpa muddle through some joke he forgot the punchline to 40 years ago.

The commentary after the convention was laugh out loud funny. When it all ended on kept flipping back and forth between MSNBC and FNC. It was hilarious the way they just started praising(MSNBC), and bashing(FNC) the whole event. reminded me of some political threads on this board.:stoned: It was as if no thought went into the whole commentary. They new what they were going to say before it even began. It is a real shame that uninformed and undereducated people throughout this country need to be subjected to such nonsense.

I Thought Hillary delivered her speech remarkably well. I have not seen her as electric before. What it was she was saying was the same old, silly two party politics...

    DNC...boring............

Thanks dragonr: Very interesting synopsis! I guess they are gearing up for the big bang at the end of the week. I expect the stadium speach will be the most interesting and dangerous (for Barack personally). I watched RFK in L.A. just prior to his demise! I think he is taking a risk. I overheard someone say they are watching to see if he 'gets it!" Some people suck!

Since, JFK was the last to give an outdoor acceptance speech. It all seems like a re-enactment of JFK's DNC. I object to it! I feel they needed all new shit with new vision, not so nostalgic (copy cat)! I feel like, 'dah, I've been here before!'

The Kennedy's needed to pass the torch in '92 and force Clinton to pass it now! We all feel for Teddy, but it made it sad for those of us that remember all his bro's!! His speech was the best! Seeing people cry, his relatives, took the enjoyment out! We know he is loved and admired! We also know how loved he was when he dumped his Lincoln in the ice water and left the scene, too! Perhaps, that incident, made him a better person!

I just do not see the enthusiasm of crowd's etc. I have in years past! As boring as baseball can be at times, I equate it to that!

Since, Bill is an excellent speaker, if he cannot motivate, over the top for the Dem's--Biden won't!! I will tune in, because of your optimism!

All the parties unite in the end! We expected that! I must admit, I expected Hillary to ask for donations to pay off her debt though! Or, if Obama had the DNC pay it for her to speak! Just curious! We may never know that!

If Hillary and Obama merged their speeches, they would have some damn fine ones! McCain could not touch um. But, he is catching up now!

Did you happen to see the RNC's platform meeting today on CSPAN?

Appreciate your encouragement and will be tuning back in tomorrow! Thank You! pr

Allrollin: I watched the wrong channels!!

I believe the content of all Hillary's speech's have had more content than Obama! I also believe, she has a wonderful sense of humor. At least when I've seen her on Dave Let/ Leno and the other's!! She has been consistent with the intent of the difference's between the parties!

Just because Bill loves sex, did not make him a bad president and they have pulled too much distance with him! People really do love him! In retro, Al Gore was remorseful he did not utilize Bill more! In this Century! RFK was 50 years ago! Most don't even remember him or a typewriter!

I always watch to see if I can see them reading from the telepromter!! Not spontanious enough! :hippy:

Ha ha! I'm not much of a channel flipper, so I never got into the comparing the commentary, but I bet it is hillarious. I usually watch CNN, but recently I got into occaisionally watching MSNBC and FNC --- it is amazing how biased they both are. But it seems like none of these 24-hour news channels have anything insightful to say. To fill 24-hours, they have to just constantly talk their freakin' heads off, and it is as if they never have time to pause and form an actual thought. Maybe they should just say, "OK we are going to go away for a couple of hours and think about this. And when we come back we will sum up our best thoughts in a one-hour recap. In the meantime, please enjoy 'Dancing with the Stars' -- it will be equally as informative as we would be if we just sat here babbling for the next 24 hours." That would be the honest thing to do.

Well, God, I hope nothing horrible happens at the outdoor event. I'm sure they have that whole area buttoned up tight.

I did not see the RNC platform meeting --- anything interesting come out of that?

I'll be watching the convention all week, and the Republicans next week, so hopefully it won't be too boring.

dragonr: RNC platform, reminded me of being in a courtroom where the judge is out, everyone was whispering and little said, except commentary!

I hope nothing happens. I never want to see it again in my lifetime! That would be terrible. They claim they already arrested and resolved one plot to harm Obama!

I guess, I will be happy if nothing happens horrible! It would be the worst! And surely, their r ppl watching, just for that! Some ppl are just twisted and need to be mmj'd, even if against their will!

CNN actually talked through a lot of speeches, so flipped to CSPAN1 with all the content shown.

Gonna watch your channels tomorrow, to see if more interesting and funny afterward! thanks pr

PR- I definitely saw some Hillary glances at the teleprompter. They seemed subtle enough and hardly noticeable, unless your a freak like us and are actually looking:hippy:

I hope the reason that Obama has pretty light content in his speeches is because he is trying to keep folks attention. There are a lot of folks who may not be that interested if he begins to get specific about things. To be honest i have not seen an entire speech of his from start to end. We'll see Thurs.

I missed Bill tonight as i had to work, but i heard he was pretty enthusiastic. Good for him. Its tough for a president to be on a losing team...
