New Vertical Light setup

I'm planning on setting up a new grow system soon that uses 3 1000 watt vertical lights ina compact area. I'm going to use either the 3 level or the 4 level hydrogon: Hydrogon™ Vertical Hydroponic System Double Your Yield | Octagon Hydroponics

It will be my first time growing with a setup this large, so I;m not expecting too much, I'll be happy with 1000g if I should be so lucky, but 1500 would be nice.

I'm mostly wondering how far I should plan on keeping the plants from the lights, what mix of Metal Halid and High Pressure Sodium Lights to use, and I'm also hoping someone who has grown in a vertical garden this size could tell what their experience is like, ie what types of lights were used, what yield was, and How much of a problem heat was.

I'm also considering usind 4 600 watt lights in stead of 3 1000 watt lights. Feel free to give any thoughts or comparisons on any of this. I havent made a firm decision on my strains yet, I'm thinking white widow and or big sheva.

How did this grow go? I'm thinking of doing practically the same thing now. Anything I should know? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
