Whats the point of even getting a card

i got a rec. about 2 months ago. the reason i got it was because i wanted to have reliable connections. if i had good connections, i wouldn't get a rec. in the years i've been smoking i've only been busted one time, (for being really stupid) when i was in high school, i'm 53 now. if you're cool, it seems like it would be hard to get busted.

the rec. cost me 150, they mentioned a state card that costs an additional 150 (which i didn't buy), plus the weed at the dispensary costs roughly 2x street price, for the same quality. someone is making lots of $$$.

if i were a grower, i'd want the rec. and card.

i've only gone to a dispensary 2x. it was Alt. Caregivers, in Riverside. the price for meds ranged from 45-80 bucks per 1/8. i tried the 45 and it was about the same quality as most of the mexican dirt weed i'm used to. i also tried some 65 and it was slightly better. the 75 per 1/8 Master Kush i got was very good, but at 600 and OZ:yippee:, that won't be happening much. all the meds from the des. taste better then the dirt weed off the street, except the 45/eighth weed which was just about equal.

this is the only "walk in" desp. i know of in the area. i like walk in better than delivery. i live WAY out in the boonies (san. gab. mnts) and there probably aren't any deliveries to my area.i know some will meet you somewhere, but i have a somewhat busy schedule and whether it is or not i see this as a problem.

today i go to my usual black market source to P/U med. for 60/oz. it may taste and smell like crap, but dang at least this way i can both medicate AND eat. any info you'd like to pass along my way would be greatly appreiciated. i personally don't mind the dirt weed (i'm pretty low budget) but it's kind of embarrising (sp) to smoke it with others. it's just not hip!

i work full time and have a small amount of disposable income. but what about those that don't and can't, how do they manage these prices? i have a bipolar friend who's on SSI and he's stuck with the only option being to break the law and go BM. yes, i know that being low income will possibly get him a price break. but he brings in about 600/mo. even if the price break was 1/2 it would still be a struggle.

as with all other systems, there's something wrong. growing pains i guess.

yeah, if you're gonna be a grower or have 3 lbs sitting around, it would be a good idea to be as legal as possible. but if you're gonna be holding less than 1 oz, have connections and don't need to use a despensary, and know how to be cool and not attract the kind of attention that'll get you busted (which i've managed to do most of my life), i'd save the 150 the pot doc will cost and be on my merry way.

on the other hand getting all the legal papers helps with the cause of making MMJ more acceptable, and just MAYBE the bozos in charge will come up with a system that works.but then again we talking about government.

You can grow your own weed - legally. Why wouldn't you get a card?

Like stinkyattic said, you can grow your own! Eighths no longer cost $70, more like $10-15. (...Depending on multiple variables of course)

Nobody sets out to grow with the intention of being caught, but as we all know, some do. When that event happens, why wouldn't you want to have your ass covered?

Scenario A:
*BANG*
"Sheriff's Department! Don't move! Put your fucking hands up!"
*Multiple LEO's*
-No recommendation-
"You have the right to remain silent...."

"One, two, three, four.....okay. He's within limits.....You know, you really should get your county card....."

As far as it being more expensive in the clubs; that's how we make sure none of it gets re-sold on the street. It's pretty hard to make any (worthwhile) money back on a $400-500 ounce; just do the math. Any anti-MMJ organizations/people would just LOVE to see a story about MMJ being resold on the street.

Yeah man thats waay too much. I personally like Green Angel in Malibu. They have eighths for $55 and ounces for $385. The great thing about them is they split ounces. You can get 8 different 1/8s if you want for the $385 price. I think the quality is great for the price, they have a good variety all the time.

(Dont know if this is allowed, sorry) There is a site that has a pretty good list of clubs in all of cali, along with menus and reviews. Check out www..com. They even have a map so you can see whats close to you.

knowing this info. makes me feel MUCH better. so it costs the growers roughly 120 to grow and OZ, which sells for 600 at a desp.

until now i was thinking i was dealing with greedy "caregivers" taking advantage of sick people.

just an FYI all, I got my recommendation from medicann a few months ago and as far as I know, the 24hr verification is online only and so far, ALL the clubs I've gone to and delivery places I've tried required phone verification. Yup, I got my recommendation during my lunch break and was told that I was added to the online system for verification, went to a club that night and was sent home empty handed.

If you are on Medical the clinic in Riverside will only charge $125 and the county health department will give you a 50% discount on your own patient card and/or your caregivers card. I often buy my marijuana 4-8 ounces at a time so the card is like insurance against getting busted.
