5 gallon bucket
depends on how long you plan on growing in them. i use 5 gal buckets indoors and find that after the standard 2 month veg they're rootbound by harvest. it'll be harder on them outdoors as the roots will also be battling the hotter air (unless the bucket is buried or shaded at least). keeping the roots cool is very important.
