Howdy pusher,

Yup..a 5 gallon bucket is great..and if you're growing outdoors,I suggest painting your buckets a flat,camo color..as for pests,there are safe,organic pesticides that ya can use,coyote and fox urine,for deer and varmit control.

depends on how long you plan on growing in them. i use 5 gal buckets indoors and find that after the standard 2 month veg they're rootbound by harvest. it'll be harder on them outdoors as the roots will also be battling the hotter air (unless the bucket is buried or shaded at least). keeping the roots cool is very important.

Let us know how it goes, I tried that about 20 years ago but never had any luck seemed that something always got to em. We even went as far as hoisting the buckets about 30 ft up in the crook of a tree, and wouldn't you know some 2 legged SOB got to em.

Well..I was thinking about root temperature,when I said that one should camo the buckets,a dark color will absorb more heat..but I didn't want to complicate things too much.
