He is Named after Mohammeds horse

    Mohammed's Ascension

In the year 621, at the age of 51 years old, He flew on the magical Winged-Horse of Fire which he called Burak, which literally means White Horse but seen as "Thunder-Lightning". The full version of this most memorable moment has been preserved in "The Bokhari" (Vol.15, p.3615) one of the Holy Islamic Scriptures. The beauty of the Muslim Scriptures resides in the fact that they still remain in the language in which they have originally written.

    Why doesnt he just say....

I am a muslim, I hate America, and So does my wife and Pastor. I believe in Black liberation theology?

    So much stuff.....

Well, according to wikipedia, which is usually fairly good w/ nomenclature-

In modern Arabic, the name Barack (Arabic: باراك ) pronounced ba'-rak, means "he who is blessed" or simply "blessed". A more common form in most Arabic-speaking countries is the passive Mubarak.

The usage of the root B-R-K as a male name meaning "blessing" occurs in the Ancient Semitic Sabean (barqac), in Palmyrene (baraq), and in Punic (Barcas, as surname of Hamilcar), and as a Divine name in Assyrian Ramman-Birqu and Gibil-Birqu[1], and personal Biblical name Barukh or Baruch (which is also the modern Hebrew cognate; see Book of Baruch for an instance of the name). "Barack" and "Baruch" are equivalent to "Benedict" (Latin Benedictus).

    From the same source-

Sidney or Sydney was originally an English surname. Its main origin is from Old English words meaning "wide well-watered land". [1] It is generally conceded (without enthusiasm) that Sidney may also be a contraction of the French place name Saint-Denis, the Patron Saint of France, which was brought to England by the Normans. Hanks & Hodges point out that there is little evidence to support this derivation and it may be the result of folk etymology [2]. Reaney & Wilson state that "The name is usually derived from St. Denis (Normandy) but proof is lacking". [1]

In (Norman) French, Saint Denis (itself a contraction of Dionysius) would be pronounced something like "S' Deni'", which in England became "Sidney" through the folk etymology process when the Plantagenets became English.

The Dionysus ref is kinda funny.

If his given name was Barack, then as an adult, it stands to reason that he should use it. Nicknames are not always taken into the workplace. If, as a child, it made more sense to go by an Americanized nickname to fit in, I can fully understand that. I know several Korean immigrants who go by American names now for a number of reasons, such as not having to spell their given name every time someone needs to know it, and making it easier to remember.

His middle name follows the translation perfectly

Husayn, Hussein, Hossain, Hussain, Husain, Hosein (Arabic:حسین Turkish: Hüseyin), is an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning "good" or "handsome".

Barak means "blessed" , and Hussein means "good and handsome" I don't see anything that's wrong with his name.

Why are you occuppying your time analyzing his name?...I'm curious

I could care less about Barack Obama's name. It's not like he got to choose his name from a list when he was born. This is irrelevant news reporting. I'd rather hear about issues at hand.

What I do care about are the issues and type of man I see Obama to be. He is not someone I support. I won't go into here but I've stated my reasons in quite a few threads if anyone is interested as to why.

Why doesn't he just say? Because it's bullshit. What kind of fanatical right-wing crap is this? Do you just find it easier to knock down strawmen than actually argue against the real person and issues?

Of course this is just coming from me, and seeing as I'm not a right-wing extremist who thinks "liberal" is a dirty word, without understanding it's meaning, I must hate America too. I jihad on America! A jihad on unborn babies! A jihad on freedom itself!
