my buddy ran from the cops and ended up at hishouse, copes found his grow room becuase they could smell it in his living room, im gonna be growing ina couple months and i would like to know what i can do to completly seal off a room of odor? thanks:thumbsup:

If I wanted to grow indoors and reduce the odor, I would use an activated carbon filter (aka activated charcoal filter). These are also known as "air scrubbers"

Google "buy carbon scrubber" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Basically it is a filter filled with activated carbon that you force the air through to "clean" the air.

What I would do is set up a tent in a room, and make the tent as airtight as possible, except for one vent and one intake. That vent would be a pipe or air duct with a fan attached that pulls the air out through a carbon scrubber. The intake would not release any odor, because that is where the air would be pulled in through.

Just in case, I would also have another air scrubber in the room outside the tent, cleaning up any "leaks".

You could also just scrub the air in the entire room, doing away with the need for a tent. That way is a lot less anal then my way. Then again, with a tent (if it were not clear) someone would not only not smell your plants, but they couldn't see them even if they looked through the door quickly. (though they would wonder why the fuck you have a tent in that room... with a fan and a pipe. LOL)

I grow outdoors, so I've never tried building one of these things. Maybe someone else has... but there is a lot online for you to read and do it yourself.

You need a carbon filter to reduce odor.

But first, you need to take some even more basic precautions!
The most important one for a grower to know is: BE INVISIBLE. That means not only your grow, but your lifestyle. NEVER do things that will put you in a position to be interacting with the police! Your friend made two crucial errors: The first was attracting attention of police, and the second was running from them, right to his grow room!

Definitely think very carefully before deciding if a grow fits into your lifestyle right now.

Although I hate to hear about anybody being arrested for growing... that's just poor planning right there :wtf:

If you decide to run from police, which I don't recommend, you better be prepared to sleep in the woods or behind a dumpster for the night. Going back to your grow for safety? WTF?

I completely agree about "wearing the invisibility cloak." I will also add that this doesn't mean you need to stay in your house 24/7. Just act normal!!! What I like to do when I'm feeling paranoid is to try and imagine EXACTLY what the people in my neighborhood are doing right now. You know... the family down the street... the single dude I see taking his trash out... the old folks in the apartments... etc. What I tend to find... no matter how creative my imagination may be... is that I have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE DOING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS! Haha.

And yes... you NEED odor protection and you need to constantly re-check your scrubbers efficiency to make sure you aren't getting used to the trace odors.

Unfortunately, I feel that many of these "busted" stories... place fear and paranoia in the minds of responsible med patients trying to grow. It should be reiterated that if you use precaution... remain a contributing member of society... respect your town/city/state... and basically just stay being a :hippy: you shouldn't have these encounters with the police. I'm assuming the average med patient over 21 is not going out stealing street signs or shoplifting (not saying that the OP did this)... and then running from law enforcement :jointsmile: I think it is extremely important to stress our responsibility to act as ambassadors for Cannabis. Even with a doctor recommendation, many grows operate on the fringes of legality. While WE all know that these are good people looking for symptom relief... many see it as simply breaking the law. So please, out of respect for the herb... and our fellow community members... be responsible. If you wish to go out and engage in activities that will attract police attention while you are growing Cannabis and you DO get busted... please inform the police that you are not growing for medical purposes. It really damages the public image of people who grow out of necessity.
But yeah.... YOU NEED ODOR PROTECTION!!!!!!!!!
