adding beneficial microheards is alittle different than using nutes. they are a great addition to gardening/anything living.
they help promote nutrient uptake
they help promote healthy immune systems and also fight bad mocroheards.
they trade nutrients for plant extrudes(simple sugars). in doing this the plant gets to eat already mushed up/broke down food(doesnt use up as much energy to eat)
and many other things depending on what exactly is used

Nutrients and mycos are not the same.
Mycos are best used with organic ferts to get the most benefit from both.
When mixing your media, wear a dust mask! Mycos up the nose = nasty sinus infection... don't ask how I know.

I've often thought about going completely organic, using pure-blend and brewing organic teas...
However,I always get this nagging whisper that says,"WHAT DO I DO WITH ALL THESE FKN NUTES"!!!,lol...

When you say "additives" what do you mean? Are you adding aerated compost teas or extracts? EM? "Bugs in a bottle"?
There are a variety of ways (some better than others) of adding microbial activity and bio-mass to you soil. It's important to know the differences, and what you're looking to accomplish.
For increased nutrient cycling, aerated compost teas are your best bet, though they need to be made correctly (you can't just throw some ingredients in a bucket with an air stone and cross your fingers).
