You want to grow fat buds? Then you need lumens lumens lumens! It is a known fact that watt for watt HPS puts out more lumens than MH. Not only that but it is naturally redder on the color spectrum than MH which is important for flowering.

HPS does run hot but if you have proper cooling on your HPS light (cool tube and inline fan with passive intake) then the heat is a moot issue because you are no longer filling your room with that heat.

You want some stretching in flowering. Taller plants = more bud. Unless you have a horrible ugly gangly lanky plant in vegetative state then I don't think you have to worry about stretch being a problem. Just keep the light as close to the tops of the canopy without bringing the temps above 85 degrees (78 is my ideal temperature).

So what I guess I'm saying is that in my opinion "The Rev" is complaining about something not so important. If your room is set up with proper ventilation then heat will never be an issue. So take advantage of HPS and all the lumens that come with it. Lumens = fat buds
