    400 watt hps aircooling help

Could someone link me up with info on how/the best way to aircool my 400 watt hps light... I currently have a cage fan extracting air straight from the hood but thats not doing good enough as temps are almost reaching 90 deg.

Have a good Idea on how to do it just want to see some others and know how much cooler its actually going to make my space...

Are you exhausting it out of the room? Do you have a low intake? We need more info. Is there glass on the hood? If so you could run a duct from outside thru the light and back out, then you would get virtually no heat from the light as long as your fan is big enough.

Is your hood sealed? If not I would recommend the following

6" Hi flow Inline fan (300cfm or more)
    6" cool tube.

Run a passive intake. This will keep most of the radiant heat from the light trapped inside the glass tube. Setup your 6" inline fan as the exhaust connected to one end of the cool tube and ducting on the other end.

I just have my fan exhausting straight from the hood I built through some duct work but I could cut a whole outside my box connect it through the cooltube and connect my fan to the other end of that is what your saying and it will just pull the cool air from outside the room through the light and out the top correct?

I'm not sure I understand you. Also you keep saying hood but you don't ever mention if it's completely enclosed or not.

A Cooltube is a type of hood/reflector that is completely inclosed in a round tube so that you can hook ducting on both sides of it to vent all the hot air out of your room.

I've attached a rough diagram of how the lay out would look.

Ok I know what to do now.... I just have one other ?... Do you think it would be better to run duct from both ends of the cool tube or leave 1 end open and the other attached to the fan exhausting the air out so it also pulls some of the stagnent air from the room as well.... Or should i set up a passive intake from outside the box ducting both ends of the cooltube?

To be honest it's up to you...Just remember if you go with thought number 2 you will have to worry about smells. Personally I would just attach it to both ends and not even have it pulling air out of the room....If not you can attach it to the exhaust just make sure you add a scubber.
