Creatine is NOT the same as carbohydrate!!!
Carbohydrate is a fancy word for sugar or starch, and refers to chains of carbon that your body can break to give itself energy- the C-C bond is one that has a lot of potential energy just waiting to be released and used.
Creatine as you said is composed of amino acids, which are the 'building blocks' from which proteins are made. You would want a diet high in amino acids especially for bodybuilding, where you are trying to convince your body to use the energy you give it to put on a lot of muscle bulk, which requires a lot of protein for its amino acid content.
