Damn guess I better keep shopping. I'm trying not to have allot of heat. So 145,000 lumens is the target.

    Hi tyrodogg
Just wanted too let you know if you go with the T5 flo's you'll need the 3000k one's(bloom bulbs),also get the 54w bulbs. I have done some researching I think the best way for a noobi like me or you togo would be a 1000 hps light as you can use for the whole grow cycle, but it does get hot you will need ventalation!! a cooltube comes too mind!

I made some T5's got 8 54w bulbs running after getting done with the T5project I found it acually cost me a little bit more than a 1000w HPS, know I regret not just getting one, my next light project/purchase will be a 1000w HPS.... GL

Yeah ultimately nothing can compare to HID. Flowering MJ uses a max of 10K Lux and a 1000W HPS can produce that from 4' away. Even if you assembled enough Floros to produce 10K Lux, it wouldn't do it an 1" away. So there is no penetration and it will NOT cost you less.

Ultimately floro is best for cloning or a short veg. Not even extended veg (like a month or more).

Am I looking at these prices right about $500 for 600 HPS and another $400 for the ballast? Please tell me there's a more cost effective way.

I don't know what prices you are looking at. But there is a $150 remote ballast for 1000W and there are hoods at all price ranges, and the bulb will cost about $110 (Hortilux, don't buy anything else @1000W, 600 another story).
