Importance of Grinding
I was just wondering what is the point of grinding. I see that people here grind their stuff all the time, or at least break it apart with their hands. Does it just make it burn more equally? Makes it more efficient? I wish I had more smoking buddies, cause I think its pretty fun having conversations while stoned and you can learn so much more

yeah breaking up nug makes it burn easier. see for yourself, grind up a bowl, smoke that. then throw one solid nug in there and smoke that. its not a big difference. grinding the weed only really matters in joints, if your weed isnt ground enough it might burn unevenly or go out.

I always break it up, if its shwag i use my grinder. You pretty much have to break up shwag because there's always usually some stems and seeds in there, gotta get rid of that shit.
little off topic, but i like how Asian king, the guy that posted above me, has been a member since dec, 06 and this is his first post, haha.

grinding is quite needed. It exposes ALL the nug to your heat source. Very needed for vapes or joints, but I do it for my bowls and bongs even. Ever notice how when you pack a bowl without breaking it up, you gotta light it alot more, and the second half of your bowl tastes like the lighter. Just my methods...

Most importantly it keeps your dirty ass... greeeeezy mits off of it
Haha. Nah, but the oil on your fingers is like a magnet for fine particulates that envelope the bud. If it's brick or just overall seedy, use your fingers. That shit's been passed around the block so many times there isn't much to lose by now. Also, you don't really want to be grinding up stems and seeds, so using your hands will let you sort through the junk. When you get those nugs that make you say "Unhhhhhhhhh... na nahh na nahhh :stoned:" you want to use a grinder. Shit I take mine out of a glass jar with chopsticks, cut it once or twice with scissors straight into the grinder, then use a paint brush to track down any sneaky trichs that felt like jumping ship. It's a sickness :hippy: haha
I especially recommend grinders for hiking, camping, fishing, snowboarding, canoeing, etc. It sucks trying to break shit up trail-side when the wind is kicking. It also takes too long (you're outdoors... LOOK AT NATURE... no time to stare at bud crumbs :jointsmile
There is not much that hurts me more than seeing someone break up some sparkly... stanky shit with their fingers. Squishing it together...... hands looking like they just ate cool ranch Dorito's there are so many crystals. Then they either lick their fingers or wipe it off on their pants?? :wtf:
Yeah... not much that hurts me more.... except if they don't let me hit it :stoned:

No doubt. ever since i started grinding there has been no need for a stir stick or flipping the bud over to get the bottom. Just a nice even burn that tastes great all the way through (whiskeytango is right about the taste of the lighter...GROSS!)
On that note, i remember the days when my supply wasn't as unlimited. I would smoke whatever i could get. I'd always be burning roaches or the remains of the last night's bowl, or even worse...RESIN (tar) SCRAPINGS...effin' sick. Now my bowl gets cleaned before every use.
anyways...back on point...grind...it'll change the way you smoke.

**EDIT** I just pick my bud up by there stem, and then after that it is put above grinder, cut at the stem, stem is placed in mouth, and you chew while you grind
