Honestly I would rather it take longer and not have to use the pharm. pain killer. I would eat your ass off... there is no way you'll be worse than you already are!

Thank you EVERYONE, for being here with me with all of this positive reinforcement. I agree about pharm. pain killers, they get you so high you just don't care, then you crave them even more, its sad. Well heres some pictures. My leg snapped and my shoe hit my knee the swung back the other way.
I just discharged sometime today, be home soon, my pops made a bunch of cookies for me and has been saving them for the past two weeks. It'll be a great hour and a half ride home.

I suggest you consider Birdgirl's advice, she has a nursing background, as I understand it ... I have always heard that smoking anything, can hinder your immune defense (I am NOT a doctor, but frequently impersonate one when stoned
), if I had a staph infection, I wouldn't take any chances ... our local hospital frequently discharges corpses, that came in for a minor surgery, and wound up with staph ... bad stuff ... :wtf: ... one thing I do know, (from breaking multiple bones), do NOT eat spinach, or other greens, they have some substance in them that hinders bone growth ...

Spinach is also a common place to find E. coli bacteria, and you don't want to risk food poisoning while you heal!
One last thing I will add here, is that while you are healing (and it is a good idea all the time) to avoid anything with an artificial sweetener in it. I have no sources for this, but a friend with a broken collarbone that refused to set was read the riot act by his doctor when Doc found out how much Diet Coke he drank, and told him that was severely impacting his ability to mend bones. Yes it's anecdotal. But Every little bit helps.
Your leg looks bad ass. And they did a tidy job of getting it fixed without long scars! A decade ago, you'd have quite a collection of battle scars there. Get better soon so you can show them off on the slopes...

I got home and all my in home care dropped and didn't come when I woke up for my antibioatics. I ended up having very bad opiate withdrawls and dillated withdraws all morning. Became overly dehyderated and ended up in the ER all day. Which is where i got my antibiotics also, they discharged me after a few hours. Came home and vaped while a couple friends smoked ad told hospital stories. I now feel great and my leg just feels fuzzy. Thank god for the erb.
We also now have home care.
Peace

Hey I found this article and was thinking of your injuries.
Cannabis Effective at Relieving Chronic Post-Operative Pain
Long before the great Sativex debate started a cannabis plant extract was providing pain relief for patients after major surgery such as knee replacements, according to a study carried out by Imperial College London and the Medical Research Council.
Details of a trial published 1996 in "Anesthesiology" shows how effective Cannador, a cannabis plant extract, was at managing post-operative pain.
Dr Anita Holdcroft, from Imperial College London, and lead researcher said: "Pain after surgery continues to be a problem because many of the commonly used drugs are either ineffective or have too many side effects.
These results show that cannabinoids are effective, and may lead to the development of a wider range of drugs to manage postoperative pain."
The researchers tested Cannador on 65 patients who had previously undergone surgery.
11 patients received a 5mg dose, 30 received a 10mg dose, and 24 received a 15mg dose. While all patients who received a 5mg dose requested additional pain relief, only 15 of those who received the 10mg dose and 6 of those on the 15mg dose did so.
As the dose increased, patients reported decreasing pain intensity and increasing side effects. Side effects included increasing nausea and increased heart rate in some patients.
Professor Mervyn Maze from Imperial College London, and one of the researchers, added: "We thought cannabis might be beneficial in helping manage pain following surgery, as previous research indicated cannabinoids help 'top up' the body's natural system for reducing pain sensation.
This research proves it can be effective, with minimal side effects at low doses."
The study was conducted using patients from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, Kings College Hospital, The Manor Walsall, The Whittington, St Bartholomew's, University College London Hospital, West Middlesex and Ravenscourt Park Hospital.
The study was funded by the Medical Research Council and the Westminster Medical School Research Trust, which is administered by the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust.
The Cannador was donated by the Institute for Clinical Research, Berlin.
All in all it was a resounding success and yet today in 2008, we are still no nearer to a widely available oral cannabis extract.
Ask your representative why.
