Been in the Hospital for the past 2 weeks

Hey Cannabis.com, I was with a buddy bombing hills on our long boards and I got in a bad wreck and ended up having my leg snap in half and a bunch of ligaments and tendons to be damaged along with tissue in my left leg. I had Tibia/Fibula Rodding Surgery and then I contracted Staphorious Infection the day I was allowed to leave and go home. The pressure from the infection in my leg has been driving me up the wall. I have been in this bed for two weeks. I have been moving around but the pains intolerable without all these pain killers, I cant stand taking them I cant wait to have my butter and buds when I am out of here.

My question is about smoking, I was told it will drasticly decrease my bone growth and healing time. Along with making rehabilitation longer. Should I vaporize it instead of will glass or bong be sufficient? I dont understand why smoking slows bone growth down. I am just looking to get off all this Dillated and Vikaden and the others.

I was planning on just doing edibles but I enjoy the smoke.

Let me know cannabis.com! I know what works for me and god has created my body to work with cannabis I feel like.

No negative feedback please. Only Positive comments.

Im fairly solid that they just mean cigarettes. Cig smokers heal slower because that tiny amount of carbon dioxide bonds to your red blood cells and takes up some spaces that were meant to transport oxygen. Less oxygen means poorer circulation, and less nutrient rich blood avalible for your crippled body.

Albeit I dont know how much carbon monoxide is in a joint, if you want to be super careful just eat it.

Sorry you got so banged and broken up and had to spend all that time in the hospital. Sorry about the staph infection, too.

When they say "Don't smoke," they're mostly referring to cigarettes, but smoking anything isn't ideal, it's true. When you're healing, you need all the oxygen you can get and tiny blood vessels need to knit themselves back together. Smoking of any kind, but especially tobacco-smoking, impedes that process. So your healing is indeed slowed down.

Bones are fully of blood vessels and tissue that manufactures blood cells, so by not smoking, you're letting them do the best job they can for you and help supply your body with the oxygen-carrying cells that'll help mend that leg bone and those ligaments back together. Cannabis smoke competes with your body for oxygen just like tobacco smoke, and you're still getting carbon monoxide and benzopyrenes in weed smoke which are chemicals that aren't ideal under any circumstances, especially when you're trying to heal and fight infection.

I know it's hard not to, but if you can resist the impulse to smoke and can eat or vape your cannabis instead, that'd be ideal. If you cannot, I'm convinced it's not going to be that sinister a threat to smoke a few hits here or there because weed smokers never smoke as much cannabis as tobacco smokers smoke cigarettes. They only dream of being able to do that!

Hope you feel better soon, SF. Take good care of yourself.

:thumbsup:Print and keep re-reading Next Line is Mine's and Birdie's post's! You NEED the oxygen! All the studies in the world have been done. For Ortho and infection (among other things) it is not a choice but absolute necessity! :stoned:. What you choose to do now, could effect your future.

I hope your doc has explained that it can get into the bone and make it spongy. Sometimes, that is fixable! If it were me, I'd go edibles, as already suggested!

I can tell you, I do know, it makes all those tiny little muscles, tendons, nerve's and ligaments relax and make you feel so much better! You need some relief and you are on as powerful a med as you could be! Ortho Docs are not usually so generous with the meds, as yours is. The majority are very stingy with pain meds.

You should have resource's for the "Pain Clinic" Ask for a consultation!

It is nice to see your mind is working well enough to seek some educated advice. Hope you take it! After injury and hospitalization it is difficult to realize, this is a situation you have little control over. Except for what the Dr. tells you.

I think, if it were me and I could not get some cheap oxygen at home. I'd buy those new "instant oxygen' cans (the latest fad for a legal hi). Use the oxygen from it prior to and after any type of inhalation of mmj. But, that would be me. Knowing the value of oxygen, if I was not able to stop smoking while recovering.

You are right, I am not a fan of Vit V for ortho pain either, I think it is better for a toothache! Long term tylenol ingestion isn't good for you, but situational, take it! My experience the Vik made me hi, did not help the pain but it made me hi enough I did not care I still had it! I hope this doesn't break the rules, if so, hope someone edit's it!

I am not sure as to your explanation of what you were doing. I have not heard of that. The most I ever did was a 'Chinese Fire Drill' (as a teen-ager) stone sober! Until the cops stopped us!

Your pain will be with you awhile, coping can be an issue if you get down and depressed with it. Seek temporary psychological help. 2 weeks in a hospital without being paid, that could screw up your mind a bit!

Good luck to you, my heart goes out, with empathy! Please drop back by and let us know what you are doing and how well and fast your recovery is! pr Pleaz know prayers and thots of a fast and spedy recovery are going your way! pr:hippy:

from Jack Herer's The Emperor Wears No Clothes:
Marijuana smoke effectively dilates the airways of the lungs, the bronchi, opening them to allow more oxygen into the lungs. It is also the best natural dilator of the tiny airways of the lungs, the bronchial tubes - making cannabis the best overall bronchial dilator for 80% of the population (the remaining 20% sometimes show minor negative reactions).
Cannabis lowers blood pressure, dilates the arteries and reduces body temperature an average of one-half degree, thereby relieving stress.
Instead of smoking, vape it! Chances are good that it will increase your ability to breathe in more oxygen, plus allowing more of it to flow through your body via the dilated arteries. And since there have also been studies about cannabinoids boosting the immune system, that's even better.

When you are on antibiotic's, your immune system is questionable or you would not have an infection! I doubt the Cannibis can help your immune system when it is under attack from antibiotics and infection. I believe you have to be in a healthier state to boost your immune system.

My experience with vape: I think it makes the bud taste better, that is, if you like the taste of it! Plus, it is so much smoother! Try vape! If you like the smoke I really think you'll love the vape! pr

And get well with a speedy recovery!
