    MMJ Reccomendation for analgesic Allergy?

So lately I have been thinking about getting a MMJ prescription and I was just wondering if my having an allergy to G6-PD (Aspirin, Most Tylenol/Advil pain relievers) would help me get a card? I have been prescribed a few medicines for my intense migraines as well as for stomach pain.

Do you think MMJ will help me? Or is my condition reason enough to get a MMJ card?

    Thanks for reading

    MMJ Reccomendation for analgesic Allergy?

Let Granny walk you through it. I'm in California, so what I say applies here, only! First off, it is a RECOMMENDATION, not a prescription. Federal law prohibits (stupidly ) the prescribing of cannabis. Your doctor can only recommend it- here, that is enough to make you "California legal".

You need to start by asking your own doctor for a copy of your medical records. Took my doc about 10 days to get mine to me. Your documented migraines and stomach pain are sufficient to get a rec. The allergy is just icing on the cake. When you see the pot doc, take any prescription meds you have with you- they support you claim. As long as you have a legit medical problem that cannabis helps, you qualify in California!

Finding the pot doc- although your regular doctor CAN recommend cannabis, he likely will not. The DEA/FDA/AMA has him spooked- just like my doctor, and he even admitted to using "in his younger, med school days"! So, if you don't have a cheap MMJ clinic around, check NORML's California website for a list. Shop around - prices vary wildly! Anywhere between $85 to $250- the difference can buy you that first legal bag!

So, you got the appointment, the records, and the cash- what to expect. Well, pretty much a normal first visit to a doctor. You fill out forms, get weighed, BP, etc. The doctor comes in and chats with you about your condition, asks if pot helps you, then gives a short lecture on use and laws. You walk out, pay the sweet little receptionist and she hands you a signed paper. You are "legal". That simple!

Oh, a new thing, be sure the DOCTOR WRITES HOW MUCH YOU MAY GROW AND POSSESS ON YOUR REC! This may save you MUCH grief if you get busted. The laws are in flux right now. The courts threw out the limits for growing and possessing. But this means some cops may get a bit crazy about limits. SO get the permitted amounts on your rec. The law basically reads that the doc decides how much you need. I am down for 3/4 oz per week, the hubby 1 oz per week. My plants provide just enough to medicate us without exceeding the old, now defunct, limits.

The cards. Unnecessary! All you legally need is the doctor's note! (Carry a copy in your wallet.)There are the county cards that may get your driver's license "tagged" as a MMJ user (NO WAY I want that!) - it depends what county you are in, apparently. And frankly, I don't trust my local government not to "accidentally leak" my name to the cops! Even though I am within the old limits on growing, I don't need the aggravation, and even a "failed bust", would cost me my job (I work in education).

Then there are the club cards. These do NOT go on your driver license. They are good for only the dispensary/club that issued them. To get the card, you need to go to the dispensary during your pot doc's business hours. At the dispensary, you present your note from the doctor. They call up your doctor, and verify that you are his patient. Then they verify that you are you (picture ID). Only then will you be allowed to buy.

Basic advice, when you grow, keep it quiet- over-enthusiastic cops and rippers (often a friend of a friend) are everywhere. Grow in soil, organically. Enjoy that first "legal" joint- the high is unique. You never realize how much fear cuts into your high, until that first "legal" joint! Become an activist in some small way. ENJOY!

It's going to depend very much on the state in which you reside, and the documentation you present.
You'll want to assemble a very good case for alternative therapy.
Documentation of stomach pain/nausea will only help your case for MMJ.

    Thanks Granny and Stinky

    - I actually do live in California, Los Angeles, and I know quite a few people who have "fooled" doctors into giving them reccomendations and I didn't want to apply if I didn't have a real need for it.

I also wanted to grow a bit, just for myself, and I have a small backyard that is in the sun most of the day (I live in California, Duh) and I water it often, Do you guys think that is enough for a plant to grow? Everything else I have planted so far works pretty well, Yams, Carnations, I even have a few 10-20 foot trees now. Do you guys know if having other plants near the MMJ will effect the outcome of the plant?

As long as there is no competition for food, water, light, or root space, growing cannabis with other plants is fine. And if you are already a gardener, you have some skills that you can use!
