Colin Powell to endorse Obama
I don't ever watch MSNBC. I sometimes see regular NBC--or I used to watch Tim Russert faithfully. So I don't know what their news treatment is, but I know they're all fascinated with Obama. MSNBC is way up high on our satellite channels and no one ever flips that far into the 200s here.
You're the only one who ever calls Obama the "Savior." No one else here does. I'm guessing you must see him as that yourself!! LOL!
As far as the tabloids coming to the front pages, as soon as regular news agencies like AP and the mainstream networks could get people to go on the record with the Edwards story, that's when it came out in the regular news. There was lots of talk behind the scenes at news stations and papers across the country. The Edwards/mistress story had been scuttlebutt for a long time. And there was lots of griping about why it hadn't been covered outside the tabloids and the blogs. But till the networks and agencies could get confirmed sources on the record, they wouldn't officially come out with the story. No one's pulling your leg here or in the other thread where I was telling Reb about that. This is standard mainstream news operating procedure.
As a result, the mainstream news agencies got scooped, which happens sometimes. The tabloids broke the Gennifer Flowers story. I think that was The Star. The Star also caught Dick Morris with his call girl and first published that story. It was the National Enquirer that broke the story of Rush Limbaugh and his drug dealer. They're the ones who got pics of Gary Hart and Donna Rice. So they go after and get news, too, just like Fox does. But they also publish absolute sensational nonsense all the time, just like Fox does. Legitimate news agencies will sacrifice scoops sometimes in order to confirm sources and make sure they're telling the truth so they won't be sued for libel. Those others pay a lot for news stories, and they pay a lot of libel damages and settlements, too. It's safer and less expensive to confirm sources.
On the Colin Powell endorsement, someone in the Texas Democratic Party told me last night the party believes he is going to endorse Obama. I'm amazed, frankly, especially with his military background. I want to know if it's for reasons of racial solidarity or if there's bad blood between him and McCain. They said he won't attend the convention but that they're expecting him to make it public that he'll vote for Obama after the convention's over. If anyone knows of any background between him and McCain, I'd love to know that history!\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
