    maybe Squash Bug
Description. This brownish-black insect is a large (5/8 inch) flat-backed bug.

Injury. This insect can cause rather extensive damage due to its large size and large number of nymphs. It removes plant sap, causing the plants to blacken and die.

Plants Attacked. All curcubits with a preference for squash and pumpkins.

    ill keep looking

thanks for the quick reply. this bug was very small, with no antennas, so i dont know if it could have been a squash bug.
i have already moved him to a new location, far away from my plants, but i just hope it didnt lay eggs or anything. this hasnt been the first i have seen, the other was a little bit bigger and was green. i'll keep an eye out for more, and make sure my plants make it through to the end of october. thanks again for the help, and if you come across anything like this, let me know

haha, well....considering i am almost always medicated, i gotta say, i probably was high when i captured this mother effer on cam, and now i can see that there are two things coming from the head that must be antennas. (run on sentence, sorry!) he was chillin next to a spider that i also got rid of, so maybe it was just one of his comrades :stoned::stoned:

thanks for the input illnillinois, and if you find out anything else about this guy,, be sure to throw the info this way

    woah rebgirl...such violence! haha
but ya, i took him to the neighbors front yard, and squished all the other ones i found that looked similar. i'm pretty sure him and his comrades are the guilty party in this situation, and hopefully no more will show up. got any advice if it already laid eggs?

To be sure to get any eggs this thing may had lay down, use a wet sponge on each side of the leafs, clean the sponge between each leaf to be sure not to spread any eggs they might be there... Is a long and hard job but may be worth it to prevent an attack of these bugs.
