    starting over....

    Reposted in better topic:

Ok, so my closet grow kinda failed (plant got too tall for its bucket and snapped in 1/2...anyway, i'm starting over. So here is my new idea.

I plan on getting a 60" tall rubbermaid style garage cabinet. This cabinet is split down the middle (ideal for both veg and bud) vertically. It is 3' deep by 3' wide, made of thick rubbermaid style plastic.

Reading through several site's forums, I found a light system called fluorex which puts out (on the 100W level) 6500k spectrum and 10,050 lumens and 6700 Photopic lumens. I have also found a HPS floodlight at home depot that I could not find the lumen rating on, but I figured that someone here would know (100W HPS Floodlight).

As for venting, I plan on using a standard 4" duct fan to suck the air out, and 2 computer case fans (or another 4" duct fan) to blow air in (question here is how should I position the fans?). All vent holes will be covered with carbon filters, and the "lung room" (where the assembly will be) will have an air ionizer in the room near the exhaust fans. (I live in an apartment, so venting outdoors is not feasible, and yes, i konw all the dangers of apartment growing, but givin my neighbors (all for the cause) and location of my unit, security is not an issue with the exception of the maintenance crew, which if this works, should not be an issue)

On the top shelf, I plan on using that as a clone area with a simple 2' Floro as light.

All of this will be using its own internal junction box, which will be attached to the main power of the room where the shelf will be in.

As for the magic, I am probably (unless someone has a better idea) going to use a 5gal bucket with all nute's and whatnot self contained (I forget the name of this process) on each side...again, one for veg, one for flower. I am considering putting in (because i now have extra's) 2' floro assemblies on the side's of each side as well for added light (if needed). Max height of the plants can only reach maybe 36", so i won't have alot at harvest, but I figure that I can keep a continuous cycle going so that i won't have to buy anymore from the corner drugstore

So what is everyone's thoughts on this? Will it work? What would you add? Change? Remove?

I am piecemealing the parts as my wallet is not as thick as i wish it were, so i have lots of room to make adjustments at the moment.

:smokin:Only thing I'd worry at all about right now would be the heat from an HPS damaging the rubber or plastic cabinet itself (maybe.):smokin:

Ok, so I'll stick with the fluorex. Those evidently have very little heat for the light they put out. As for the HPS, if i did go that route, it would be months away (as i am starting from scrach), so I can plan that part better.

I do have a question about ventalation: As this cabinet is dual chambered (two vertical sides), would I need to vent both sides, or just create two holes into the upper chamber and vent out all at once? (I am thinking two set's of vent holes (one intake, one outtake) will be needed; one on each side. Correct me if i'm wrong.)
