    12/12?

A lot of people run 13/11 and some even run 14/10...it's all based on preferance and experience, try 'em out and see which one works best for your plants.

Light isn't everything when it comes to yield either, it plays a large part...but again it gets complicated.

Do some research here, and try it out for yourself

    12/12?

i have done plenty of reading dont you worry, i was just told that running a 11:15 on and 12:45 off light period for example could bring a harvest time down from 8 to 6 weeks with the same if not larger harvest. does that idea make sense to anyone here?

    not really...although I haven't experimented...

My reason is that two weeks is a long fucking time, and you're giving the plants LESS light which will not conclude in larger buds compared to 12/12 or higher light period...

0:45 difference does not equal 2 weeks difference.
Remember too that with faster harvest comes loss in yield.
Unless you have a compelling reason to do so, such as trying to run a pure-organic grow in a room that is INFESTED with mites, and need to keep ahead of them without synthetics, stick with 12/12. And that example is kinda a stretch.
