    Super huge Buds?

Okay.... I have been growing in hydro for over 2 years and some of you have some seriously sick pics of monster buds coming off of your plants. I need to know just exactly what is the trick to this? Is it because of bloom boosters or what??? I bought some gh KoolBloom and will be using bloom boost for the first time ever. I'm averaging about 2 to 3 ounces off of 2 plants but I'm hearing shit like ppl harvesting like 5 to 6 ounces just off of 1 plant. I really am interested in this!

Strain and light. Ever hear of the gram/watt calc? Well people use it to kind of gauge their skill. A good grower is producing .5 gram per watt per harvest in their own comfortable style. To produce 1 gram per watt per harvest requires a SOG grow and CO2. 1 gram per watt per month (that's a real calc), I've concluded is a pure myth. No one anywhere has a guide to reproducing it. And I've searched.

Alot of it is strain dependent , lotsa veg time , from seed -n- not clone helps , Bloom boosters , carbs , and shitloads and shitloads of light . Look in the "DWC Club" thread . Or look thru some of my old threads . In waterfarms or my own 5 gallon contraptions I've gotten 16 to 21 oz plants . That aint nothing either , search "shaggytruedope" "giant bubblers" on here . 3 lb plants in 20 gal. recirc. DWC and 5600 watts .

    Other way 'round.

    0.5 gram dried,
Per watt of HPS light in the flower chamber,
Per month of time (30 days) the plant spends in the flower chamber

This equates to 1 gram per watt per 60 days.

That's the precise measurement for grow skill.

    The constant is 0.5.
Say you are running a 7 week strain (49 days) under 2-600HPS.
    0.5 x 1200= 600 per 30 days corrected 8/14 by stinky... I'm dense
    600/30= x/49
Solve for x to find your target harvest weight.
x=980 and that is how many grams per harvest a good grower should be able to get with that strain and setup. That's about a pound.

Sooo...let me get this straight using the numbers from my last harvest...

i ran an 8 week strain under 1 400w hps...

    0.5 x 400 = 200 per 60 days

    200/60 = x/56

    x = 186.6g

so 186g is my target...my actual was 135g...so not too bad for my 3rd grow...

do i have that all right?

You're looking at 0.5g per MONTH measured as 30 days, rather than your total harvest time...
So you got 135 per 2 months which is 68 per month.
You should be aiming for 200g per month, but anything over 0.4g/w/m, I consider rock solid.
Keep at it; that number keeps climbing with every harvest!

So with light as a major factor, is it reasonable to assume I could potentially increase harvest weight by decreasing the number of plants in a small space? My flowering box is 4' x 2' with a 600 watt HPS, 5 plants can be a major trimming headache to keep the light flowing. Seems that 3 would work better with less leaf removal?

The wisdom you seek may be found here, grasshoppa... http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-gro...ency-baby.html
Trick is to lose no light to the ground. Every square inch of space under that light should be a lovely sea of green. Oh hey! It's even called that!
If you like to grow out large plants, try to arrange things so that the top of the plant is spread out nice and wide and shallow, so that each plant takes up a good bit of floor space (have the available pot space to match!), and the light can penetrate well.

the problem is that your growbox or closet is not exactly eficiently laid out because it's a rectangle. With that setup I would use 3.
