Targeted Effects and Med Strains...?

Curious how this works...how does the active ingredient in cannabis help back pain in one strain, but not another? I've grown various strains (indica, sativa and hybrids) for quite a few years, and the best meds, are those that went to full maturity. Not the one with the prettiest name.

In the realm of drugs, isn't the following true...?
Aspirin...targets appropriate receptors in the brain.
Extra-strength aspirin...targets appropriate receptors in the brain.
Tylenol or Advil...targets appropriate receptors in the brain.
Morphene or opium...targets appropriate receptors in the brain.

Cannabis (delta-9 THC)...depends on the strain the THC came from...?

Any strain that's taken all the way to maturity would likely do the trick. (amber or rusty trichomes at harvest) Pure indica is great, but hybrids and sativa's work too, if properly grown and harvested. (IMHO)

I'm pretty sure I'd be looking for the strongest bang for the buck, not snake-oil marketing techniques to unwary med users.

White Widdow and Inca Spirit are quality meds that work on a variety of ailments that afflict my wife and I. (chronic hep-c and t-cell lymphoma) But so does Swazi, Northern lights, Potent Purple...

Boredom and taste are the main reasons I choose to grow different strains. Some are stronger (more effective) than others, but my Swazi alleviates the same conditions as my White Widdow.

Am I missing an important biological process that distinguishes the different strains after consumption, or is it simply a matter of personal preference?

Hey Rusty...I know some strains will have different levels of psychoactive cannabinoids...THC, THCV, CBD, CBN...there are many others as well. With varying levels of each cannabinoid, different effects will result...If you made a long Island Ice tea with double vodka instead of tequila, may get a different buzz...Maybe that was a shitty example, but your smart enough to get my gist...
Some Indicas will put me on my ass asleep, while others will mellow out my anxiety, help relax my body, helping with my back pain, and not put me to sleep...

i think sns hit the nail in the coffin it has to do with the different levels of cannabinoids in relation to eachother. i believe there are about 56 different cannabinoids and we know how to study about 5 or so. the human body naturally produces cannabinoids and they help our respitory, immune and many other systems in our bodies. so the 2 working together will have great effects on the human body

Oh, I know the benefits, I'm just dubious of everyone growing the same strain the same way, getting the same results, and it targeting the same 'ailments'.

There are different levels of growing experience. Different nute compounds making the cannabis compounds to grow/not grow to certain levels, different spectrums of light, on different schedules. Different soils (or no soil) different veg lengths, (ultimate plant maturity) different ambient co2 levels, different water, different ph, different metals, diffenrent minerals...
...different levels of pain, different causes of the pain, different tollerances to pain...

But thru all these differences, the Delta-9 Thc, CBN's, CBD's...remain the same? Just doesn't seem likely.
Were THC, CBN's, CBD's an unchanging ratio in the strain, I'd understand the 'med-strain' calssification. But shitty-grown White Widdow does not alleviate pain better than my well cared-for Swazi Skunk. (shitty-grown, good genetic quality weed doesn't seem to do shit for pain relief, but a well-grown bagseed can alleviate pain just fine, in my experience.)

please let me know if any of this sounds off or incorrect. I found a ton of articles online saying that these are all good plants(that are indica dom) that medical users like
