Ladybugs arent big enough to eat caterpillars, but birds eat them. You can pick them off and then put the tanglefoot on the base of the stem- that should definitely cut down on your problems.
A lot of members have suggested various tobacco-based teas to repel caterpillars.

I hate them, they just absolutely love my plants tho!! I've use BT at double strength and I am putting triazicide crystals all over my lawn and spraying all plants in vicinity with malithion and and in a couple days I will spray my plants with malithion directly because besides bastard catapillars I've got thrips!!
