My brother is handicapped and has full government benefits. The whole shebang!! IT was a huge hassle though. However after we finally hired a lawyer and wrote our congressmen it was like the flood gates opened and now we get whatever assistance we need. Sometimes it takes 8 months to get something done (like to install a wheel chair ramp and one of those motorized chair things to go up stairs).. but he gets money, medical benefits and any additional needs he may have.

So try getting yourself a lawyer... you'll gain much more in return if it works.

I recommend hiring a Social Security attorney ... doesn't cost you up front, they will get a percentage of your 'back pay' (I think my attorney wound up with something like $1300, well worth it) ... IF you have medical history and records, it goes smoothly ... (TIP: if you are in your 40s, etc., it usually sails right thru, they tend to fight or delay the young people, as they see paying out shitloads of $$$ over the years) ... I filed in May, and had my first S.S. Disability check in October ... never even had to go to a hearing (cause I'm so fucked up :thumbsup ... BTW: keep your MJ recommendation to yourself, while it shouldn't HURT your case, it definitely will not HELP it ...

Sorry about the illness ( diseases can be cruel and mercyless

    Id def hire a lawyer
The/your Doctor signs the SSDI papers and your on it

I'd def NOT tell them your an herb medicinal patient [Your Doc might know] mine knows through blood work Im sure.

They/some cant handle the thought of peeps getting RELIEF in this life

    herbys a home remedy

Some home remedies are not legal..... yet

I would highly not recommend getting an attorney for SSI. Work your way up the Social Security administration latter. Social Security is something but not enough to get by on.

It's best to get a certified letter and medical records from your doctors stating that you are disabled and so on. Doctors can be very helpful in helping you obtain SSI benefits, especially if they have numerous other patients who are disabled.

It does take a long time to get SSI. It took my mom a long while.

Attorneys don't do anything magical or political when they "help" you get your SSI. Get your paperwork from your doctors(certified documents) and go to your local Social Security office. They're there to help you.

Tell them only what you have legal prescriptions for.

    also
Ive read Doctors recieve special recognition [$$$] from the gov
if they have NO disabled patients or very few disabled patients

a lawyer friend of mine said

the Docs signature is the one that places you as totally and permanently disabled

dont expect to get SS for someone in a coma the gov. knows the fam will spend the $$

    good luck
