    You learn something new everyday!!

I was looking in Wikipedia "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half_Baked" and was scrolling down. Found this in the Cultural references

Thurgood makes a comment to a scientist at his place of employment that his "grandfather was in the Tuskegee experiments." This is a reference to the infamous Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male where hundreds of poor black men were denied treatment of syphilis to study the effects of the disease.

That sucks, fuck anyone using unwilling parties as lab rats...

heres a link for anyone that wants to gain a little bit of knowledge about something they might not of known.

its disgusting what the US government does to its people. It creates a system so wide open that the people blindly trust in it, when in reality they use that trust to continue to make people blind, and they do whatever they want. The only difference between now and then is the fact that the information about what the government truely does spreads much quicker meaning that they have to act quicker and make a bigger stink out of things than it needs to.

I always wondered how many people even thought twice about what Thurgood says to that scientist. Most people probably assume it is a cannabis testing experiment or something. Yet another one of our countries dirty little secrets that gets swept under the rug.... even when it is injected into popular culture. Awful

On a side note... Half Baked is one of my all time favorites. I've literally watched it so much that I went through phases of specifically watching different characters throughout the movie. Seriously, next time you watch it... ONLY watch Brian (Jim Brewer.) His faces are fucking rediculous.

P.S. Sorry to turn to humor on such a disgusting topic. I really think it would have helped if after Thurgood mentioned it, somebody nearby asked "What's the Tuskeegee experiment?" And then Thurgood just kind of nonchalantly says "Oh, that's when Whitey thought it would be a good experiment to give black people syphillis and see what happens." Could have gotten a laugh, and taught people the horrors of American history.

But yeah.... good thing to point out Illnillinois. Not only do some people have no idea that this even occurred... but PLENTY of people would probably not even believe it if you told them.
