I've contacted my state representative a few times and each time someone replies with a template edited to suit the issue I wrote to him about.

"Dear Mr. xxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding H.R. 5843. I appreciate the benefit of having your views on this issue.

As you may know, H.R. 5843 was introduced on April 17, 2008 by Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and is currently being considered by the House Judiciary Committee. Simply put, the bill says that Congress may impose "no penalty.for the possession of marijuana for personal use, or for the not-for-profit transfer between adults of marijuana for personal use."

It is always a pleasure to hear from the people back home, and I greatly appreciate your recommendations and advice. I am also encouraged to hear that you are interested and involved in the legislative process. As Congress debates these issues and related legislation in the coming weeks, you may be sure that I will keep your views and specific ideas in mind.

Regarding my governing philosophy, I firmly believe in the Constitution and the Rule of Law, and am committed to protecting the Constitutional rights and pocketbooks of every American. There are four questions that I use to analyze every bill that comes up for a vote, namely, is the bill:

1) Right / Moral? 3) Needed?

2) Constitutional? 4) Affordable?

If the legislation does not affirmatively answer all four questions, I will vote against it.

I love this country, and I love our great state of Georgia. I assure you that I will continue to do all that is in my power to preserve, protect, and defend the United States, the state of Georgia, and our uniquely American way of life.

Again, thank you for contacting me. It is an honor to serve you in the United States House of Representatives. If I can ever be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Signature
Paul Broun
Member of Congress"

I received one via the mail and the other via email.

Now what to do...?
