Newbies ready for 1st real grow!

Thanks to teaching me how to do everything, everybody! Here is my first grow log. I am germinating 1 fem Barney's Farm G13 Haze, 2 fem Flying Dutchman G Force, and 3 fem Flying Dutchman Dame Blanche seeds.
They will be grown in my apartment closet in a Homebox S.
My lighting system consists of an air-cooled 400 watt HPS/MH system that will be ducted throught two exhaust fans (an inline fan with 160 CFM and another fan with 130 CFM that is attached to a carbon filter). These will be joined with a WYE branch and exhausted into my closet. Right now my closet is at 68 degrees wth 45% humidity.
I will be using an 8 gallon DWC hydro setup with plenty of aeration (root rot issues before!). I am using GH Subculture for strong root development.
Seedlings wiil sprout from rockwool (soaked in PH balanced water for 24 hrs.), and hyroton will be used as my medium.
I have Dutch Master Advanced Grow and Bloom nutes, and also their Penetrator and Folitech Grow and Bloom for foliar feed (I will do the foliar feeding at 5am with the lights off so I don't singe my little girls!).
I will be using a Hanna TDS meter to check nute levels.
I germed the seeds in paper towel overnight and in just 20 hours the G13 Haze are ready to be put into roockwool. They will be under 3 85 watt CFLs while I finish my duct work (I should get it delivered today and then I will test my atmospheric conditions before I start in the grow tent!). I feel like I have I have learned so much from all of you and I am very thankful for this humble community. I should be in jail for all the female seedlings I murdered, but it really made get educated about every step of the process and apply that science! Well, I know that knowing what to do and actually doing it are completely different! I will give updates as I go along!

    Good for you m8.

Setup sounds really nice and if you take some care you are in for a very interesting ride.
It is so much fun to have these things growing that I barelly think about the end product. After 2-3 weeks you will be able to see them grow hour by hour even. It's totally amazing.

Welcome and best of luck man.

You are right about the joy of the ride. It is an experience!
Right now all 6 seeds popped yesterday, were put in rockwool cubes under 3 CFLs generating 14,000 lumens. Already the Barney's Farm G13 Haze has broken through the top of the rockwool. I checked my ph and it has remained at 5.8 since I adjusted it.
I got most of my equipment delivered yesterday, but I realize that I will need a much stronger fan. The fan I ordered was a 170 CFM inline booster and not even close to being enough.
Originally I was going to vent my ar cooled Arctic Sun reflector from both sides and up to a WHY branch and then out my tent. In one side of the exhaust I was going to hook up my 4 inch fan/carbon filter with 130 CFM and in the other side I was going to put my other inline fan. I realize that the inline fan/carbon filter is way too weak (70 actual CFM) and would just reduce the effectiveness of my other fan.
New plan is to buy a 440 CFM from HTG Supply which handle my tent with ease (and give me flexibility to get larger lights, etc.). I will use the 4 inch fan/carbon filter to sit in my tent and clean the air that way.
All of these decisions I have made are due to the insight and expertise from all of you out there on this site! I am realizing that if you start cheaply with your setup you will probably spend much more in the long run. That is expressed by all of you "pot professors" here on Cannabis.com.
I am lucky to own my own business, and while I am not wealthy, I can afford to spend a little $ to get it right. I learned about this site from the book "The Cannabis Grow Guide" by Greg Green. I decided to start a small closet grow due to a client of mine who was suffering from hip sarcoma and all the treatments involved. The meds she was taking were worthless when it came to keeping here appetite strong, ability to sleep, pain relief. They just made her out of it. So I started researching, having been a recreational pot user over most of my adult years. I had noticed the pain relief from intense workouts and the improved appetite really helped me. And I suffer from anxiety and have found that the meds I was taking were making me dizzy and I don't like the feeling I got while on them(or the price $600/month). When I was usng pot (especially a sativa) I noticed how normal I felt and that it slowed me down, and the indicas were excellent as sleep aids and pain relief.
So, my client unfortunately died and I had seeds confiscated, and I completely panicked and got rid of everything. Nothing happened as far as "the man" coming to take me away. After reading more and more posts, I realized that they most likely wouldn't arrest me for seeds. So now I am back! Sorry, I have a tendency to ramble! Just a little look at my motivatiion is for this! Well, I am off to train some clients! Have a good day everybody!

    Good morning sports fans!
I have an update, I had an algae issue again that killed my two G Force and one G13 Haze seedlings. It was the old hydroton that I should have tossed. Well, it is in my trash now! Three Dame Blanche and one Ice seedlings have survived and are really doing well. I am using no nutes except for a morning foliar feed with 1/4 strength Dutch Master Penetrator mixed with Folitech Grow!
No ph issues and the water is clear. I just put them under my 400 watt MH in my Homebox. I was doing a test run with my system and the temps shot up to 9o degrees. I only had a small fan blowing directly. So I searched on this site for heat issues, and decided to add a large fan blowing directly on the plants, which brought temps down to 88 degrees. Then I put the small fan on a chair pointing directly on my air-cooled hood, and temps are holding at 84 degrees! Humidity is 46%.
I am waiting for my 6" duct to arrive and I got my 6" inline fan in two days after ordering from HTG Suppy! They kick butt. The fan has 465CFM and will be exhausted out into the attic above my closet.
When I get that all set up, I will add three White Russian and three Bubblicious seeds that I got yesterday from theattitdeseedbank.com.
I will give another update soon. As always I bow down to the "pot gods" on Cancom!!
