How long 'tell pollen?

Hello all, I've got three bagseed Afghoo plants which are now sexed: two girls, one boy. The boy has moved out to give his sisters some room - actually since my grow space is a TINY closet, he is pretty much homeless - i've got him shut in a coat closet under a 5 gallon bucket for his dark periods, and I bring him out and let him bask for a few hours in my living room under a small CFL lamp. I figure as long as he's alive and happy and still growing pollen sacks, I'm happy - no need for a whole lot of light or worrying about maximizing yield - I just want enough pollen to dust a couple buds on each of his sisters so I can have seeds on the shelf and not have to keep extra plants for clones down the line.

My questions are: How long does it take a male plant to mature? I know they finish earlier than the females, but how much sooner? Can anyone point me toward pictures of mature male flowers? I'm not sure how to tell when it is approaching 'ripe' - My last grow, I killed off the males as soon as they began to flower, so I have never seen a mature male flower or even the growth and development of male flowers until now.

i have the same question, iv been collecting the pollin but is there any use for it after that?
