They all come off that way to me. I think the election process and all the fawning, adoring crowds just make it worse. I have to think that this is what gets them into Bill Clinton-like zipper trouble, too. The power. The adoration. The idea that they're not going to be held to the same standards that a normal person would or that they can get away with stuff. The power is very seductive.

I worked for a lot of years doing speechwriting for CEOs at a big international company. Those top executives literally made multi-millions and everyone fawned over them and did their every bidding at every turn. It was the rare C-level Fortune 100 executive or board member who didn't think he was God incarnate, and that was because people literally treated them like that.

The same thing seems to happen to politicians. It's sad, really, because that power-factor really seems to separate them from the people they're supposed to represent.
