the answer to your question is no unless you consider a 3rd party candidate that will not pick up ANY electoral votes i.e. steve kubby

if you think anything is going to change based on whom is president then you are sadly misguided and are setting yourself up for disappointment.:wtf:

don't wait for legalization just grow your own it's the single biggest impact any one person can make

    laws, fuck'em!

it's a shame that your system is ONLY 2 party... and anyone outside of those 2 parties are viewed as fringe candidates...

A theory going in my mind is that we are still in this situation because our drug policies have not ever been perfectly enforced, nor will ever be. Many very influential, powerful people that hold up our frame of American society are very likely to use Cannabis, and if every one of these individuals, our entire system could be in jeapordy, as the solid, genius foundation we have would be behind bars. Until the laws can ever be enforced PERFECTLY, America will not truly realize the damage being caused until it starts hitting the families of those in office. Humans have a hard time visualizing problems they are not exposed to in their life, and an even harder time accepting the possible fate if one should ever make it public. It's a socially suicidal cycle that tortures us, but not so much to make everyone realize the problem.

Ugh, I ramble. Sorry, it's the widow talking...

Edit: And I realize what I said has little relevance, haha. Anyway, no candidate that has a possibility of winning is pro-cannabis. At this point, we just have to look forward to McCain not getting into office. But either way you look at it, the president really doesn't matter, its the people who vote to pass our bills.

How true! Neither of the top two are our friends at this time....lets see if there are any polls that may change their positions.

From the looks of things, the candidate who's doing the cause the most good is Congresman Barney Frank:
Rep. Barney Frank Offers Legislation to Legalize Marijuana - US News and World Report

Of the two presidential candidates, Obama would be more likely pro-cannabis than McCain, but neither of them has really touched on the subject and they almost certainly won't. It's not a popular issue to be behind, sadly.

Obama: Pro-medical marijuana BUT wants the government to regulate it and distribute like pharmacies. So much for growing or local co-ops.

As for the saviors stance on recreational use:

It amazes me on how the Obamites love to white-wash the fence that his lord sits on.

As for McCain.....look for NO CHANGE at all regarding the m.j. laws. Well, at least your getting the straight scoop on the asshole. With EITHER one of these, this will have to progress through the state levels before the politians will conform to what's right.

    Have a good one!:s4:

I know that's a far cry from what we want psycho, but it's a step closer to the right path than the wrong one. Marijuana's legitimacy as a medicine should at least be regarded on-par with far more toxic and dangerous drugs like oxycontin. It's considerably safer, but right now people think that it's significantly more dangerous. Unfortunately, folk tend to think no further than "allow it" and "don't allow", not quite processing that if you don't allow it you leave only one other alternative for severe chronic pain patients: opiates.

I can tell you from personal experience, being on oxycontin right now, that 2 recent days of cutting down to a half-dose put me in withdrawal hell. And that's just half! Cannabis, on the other hand, I could quit any time no matter how much I smoked and for how long, without any consequence whatsoever. Meanwhile opiates have the same problem of a potential muddled-brain, plus they're considerably more neuro-toxic (cannabis has no neuro-toxicity as far as I know), their physical toxicity leaves for the possibility of overdose (which cannabis has never done), then there's issues of respiratory depression, constipation (that one really sucks I can tell ya!), and lowered pain-tolerance as caused by prolonged opioid analgesic use. Yet, somehow, the politicians like Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani, who fancy themselves doctors, tell us that powerful opioid analgesics are "much safer alternatives"!

Because, you know.... these politicians know what's good for us much better than our doctors.

holy shit gandalf, i would rather die a painful and horribly indignant death than resort to prescription pills!

HELL i even fought having my thyroid script! i beat it though, and found an alternative; raw thyroid tissue.

to hell with aspirin, acetaminophen, or whatever else, toke a bowl for pain or DEAL WITH IT, the alternatives really arent up to snuff.

we all choose our ailments, and i choose not to resort to pharmaceuticals if i can help it.
