Marijuana addiction
I hope some of our members do join your forum (we have to outnumber you by a large margin) and post about how antiquated your ideas are.
This sounds like a good idea. We can battle their propaganda with sientific studies. And living proof of how much better we feel.
From reading a few posts over there it seems like this guy was medicating too heavily, decided to stop, and now thinks that weed messed him up when really the lack of mj is whats torturing him. People take this stuff as medicine so there really has to be some kind of limit on how much is considered healthy. I know he would never admit to this but i can have my theorys.Mcnizzlebery Reviewed by Mcnizzlebery on . Marijuana addiction I know that many of you donā??t believe that thereā??s such thing as marijuana addiction, and if you donā??t thatā??s fine, I am not going to try to change your mind if donā??t consider your cannabis use has become a problem for you. But for me it did, I was addicted to cannabis, I felt I had to smoke it every day, thatā??s what I would class as addiction, and I was feeling some pretty bad side effects, chest/respiratory problems, memory problems and mental health problems to say the least. I would agree that cannabis does indeed have the potential for addiction, depending on how broadly you apply the term. Anything that you greatly enjoy on a daily basis can be "addicting", or habbit forming, because the brain tends to like routines. The longer you reinforce a behavior, the harder it is to break that pattern of behavior. Likewise, this is why when anti-drug advocates point to "marijuana addiction", it's totally bunk. These factors that people face sound real scary, until you realize how broadly they factor in.
By the addiction-criteria presented here and by anti-cannabis groups elsewhere, simply not being able to stop a pattern of behavior can apply all over the place. There are millions of people who can't stop watching television, playing video games, eating junkfood, self-injuring, having indiscriminate sex, watching porn, running, or listening to music. I personally have found it more difficult to stop listening to music than any other drug I've been on. Quite seriously, when I realized I was bored of all my music, I've tried many a times to stop listening and I still can't make it through a whole day. Behaviors, mindstates, habbits; these all have powerful "addiction" potential when the term is used too loosely.
As for your brain turning to mush BrainDamaged, why do I feel a bit skeptical? You seem more than capable of articulating your thoughts in a fully coherent manner, and your very username would suggest that you have an agenda to push. If you really are suffering from brain damage, though, the very fact that you smoked marijuana does not prove that marijuana caused your issues. Take any group of people enjoying any substance from coke to coca-cola, and you can pick out some with mental issues and say "see! Coca-Cola gave him brain damage!"

I know EXACTLY what you mean...I've also tried broadening my perspective, sometimes it turns out well, and sometimes not so much...

Let's recognize the fact between moderation and abuse. Cannabis can be be abused and drive you to some of these "side bad effects." I put that in quotations because cannabis effects everyone differently. I'm also one to say if cannabis is ever to become legitimately recognized as a medicine, it has to be treated as medicine.

It's all a state of mind and who you associate with.
Frankly I was a heavy cannabis abuser. It was easier to smoke to the point of "abuse", getting totally "stoned". Than taking an interest in life and doing activites that I enjoy and makes me happy. Poor choices in who I associated with helped keep my mind in the gutter so to speak. I drew the line when they started abusing hard drugs and tried to pressure me into the same.
Kinda like many other unhealthy habbits people have be it food, psychoactive substances, physical activites or whatever.
I'm still not to the mental happyness I want and need. I feel bogged down with stress, worried about my disabled mother whom multiple doctors have said she would of already be dead 6yr ago, financial problems, work related stress and unneeded drama from various social(friends, family and acquaintances) relationships. Any who this thread isn't about my personal problems

I kinda went off topic as this thread is off topic for this forum. It's easier to stop smoking cannabis than it is to stop smoking tobacco products.

I love the posters ID name.
Good stuff.
Marijuana helped me through chemo and radiation skippy. Not to mention I am a functional pothead. I have a job, a car, a home, and I'm going through college. I finished 3rd in my graduating class. Oh and dare I mention that I have been smoking since I've been in Early High School (maybe even a little before).

Honestly my relationship with mj can be classified as an addiction too, i have to smoke everyday as well, but frankly i don't give a damn.
i love the herb, and if you're addicted to anything it might as well be something as positive and beautiful as this. I guess like some people said in previous replies, the line is between "use" and "abuse". each term can mean different to different people depending on how mj affects you...
I guess this is where you need to judge tthings a bit yourself...
Hope you get your issues resolved hehe, stay positive

Well... from what i know, coca-cola is indeed more addicting and far more harmful to the health than weed. It contains caffeine, that is an addicting stimulant. Anyone who is used to drinkng large amounts of it everyday will feel the withdraw symptoms of it if stop drinking it for a while.

After it, the bone becomes flexible... would you drink such poison? I wouldnt!

I can't determine if the original poster was really spamming us with some BS rehab site, I didn't get to see it. It's just a case of someone trying to offer help, but for the wrong reasons and wrong way of doing it I suppose.
Since cannabis does so much more good than bad (virtually nothing bad if used correctly), many cannabis users will attack the views of anyone offering help for anyone that might have serious problems with addiction. Shame on whomever does that.... it makes the rest of us look like addicts in denial... and hurts the good cause, dude...
Rehab programs and whatnot still view cannabis as a dangerous bad thing and that's totally the wrong way to approach someone that abuses cannabis (overindulgence). The idea that it's still a beneficial medicine should be maintained while working on plans to help users manage/regulate their cannabis use wisely. Like, people who spend too much of their paycheck for it and neglect other responsibilities, or using way too much and being too inebriated to function properly, letting it get in the way of jobs/school/family. If cannabis is a last resort medicine for those people, it definitely shouldn't be taken away from them. Regulation, man... it's all about using as little as possible and stuff... and still being all cool yeah...
Compassionate Rehab. maybe?
