Obama Flip-Flops on Florida, Michigan delegates

The Democratic delegations from Michigan and Florida should be fully seated when Democrats hold their national convention later this month in Denver, said the party??s presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama.

"As these delegates go about the important business of the Convention, I believe Party unity calls for the delegates from Florida and Michigan to be able to participate fully alongside the delegates from the other states and territories," Obama wrote in a letter to the chairmen of the party??s credentials committee. His plea came a day before an expected stop in Lansing to talk about energy.

"Now, when they believe it serves their political interests, they're trying to rewrite the rules," Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, told reporters in a telephone call. "Now, at the 11th hour, the Clinton campaign is trying to rewrite rules that were firmly established, and I don't think there's a lot of appetite for that in the country or a lot of appetite for that at the DNC."
