Idea for a monster mother plant.

Hi guys. I have an idea for creating a monster mother plant that I think might work.

I have heard that you can splice branches of MJ onto other plants but they might not produce bud. My idea is that you splice 3 branches from different strains (with similar eating habits) onto a fourth mature female. You label the different branches and end up with a single mother plant with 4 different clone genetics. You would probably have to have a larger plant to get enough cuttings from it. It would take some time and trial and error, but it could be a cool experiment. Some mothers can live 10+ years. What do you guys think? Cheers. imp:

Hi, I would think you would have to go real slow on the splicing doing one branch at a time and waiting until they fully take before moving to the second branch.

Yeah, I agree. I would let the plant heal completely before moving on.

Grafting is what you're talking about and I think its a waste of time to graft one cannabis plant onto another. :twocents:

Why do you think it would be a waste of time? If it actually worked, then you would only need one mother plant for a few different strains. Instead of one mother plant for each strain.

    overly complicated for one.
the 2nd would be that I have no clue about grafting other than what I've read about grafting roses, cacti and stuff.

The idea has a lot of merit actually: a medical grower with plant limits could maintain one single mother plant rather than one for each strain. I love it.

I was going to say that it would probably be easier to just keep several small mother plants than one grafted one, but this is a very good point. Most legal growers can only have a limited number of plants, and this could allow them more flexibility.

Or you could follow what Whiskey sNsSteal is doing and breed your different kinds together for the different effects and genetics you need for your personal medication :twocents:
