The concept of planting by moon phases is probably not much (if anything) more than a convenient calendar followed since the beginning of agriculture by farmers who did not have access to actual 'calendars' (since they weren't really accessible to the largely illiterate population). Counting moon cycles from the Winter Solstice will give you a repeatable time at which to plant. Beyond that... I think it's a bit of bunk, lol. But that's just my opinion
stinkyattic Reviewed by stinkyattic on . Question for Stinky, planting by the moon Hi Stinky. I don't like rumor and such, I like science. And I know you do too. SO I am wondering if there is much merit to the claims about superior plants by following ancient moon phase secrets, almanacs and such... planting this crop when the moon is waxing or transplanting or sowing seeds under a new moon, etc. I hear this from a few really old tokers I know, always rambling about how they grew plants under a black-light or how you can top a male a bunch of times and make it female etc. Rating: 5
