Some of those are Photoshopped pics, right? They have to be!!

All this time I thought my orange tabby needed to lose a few . . . he's sylphlike compared to those in the pics above!

My friend had a lardy orange longhair named Cupcake that was a good 30#. When she was sitting around (=all the time) she looked like a great big orange Tribble with ears. That cat no longer had a NECK. Fat cats are funny.

I know that the topic here is fat cats however take a look at the link below.
Brothers found guilty over 'grossly' obese dog | UK news | guardian.co.uk
There have been several instances lately in UK about owners being prosecuted for having obese pets I am sure there has been one about cats but I can't find a link to it. There have been a few about rabbits.
My opinion is that it is cruelty unintentional or otherwise as it seriously reduces the animals quality of life, but I am sure others will have a different opinion.

Poor animals look like some of todays young ppl.
Wonder how the obiesity affects their life expectancy ?
Betcha Weedhound would just about crucify these pet owners if they came through her vet .

Two different friends of mine have neighbors with kick-me dogs that are on diabetes medication after a lifetime of being fed table scraps and people food. One is almost completely blind. Two of them have to get daily shots. They all look like shit and don't seem to have much energy. Not cool; take care of yo' damn pets!

Dogs eat dog food. Cats eat cat food. People eat people food. Durrrrr.

While I agree that allowing your pet to become that obese is a form of abuse.. I would have to say it would pale in comparison to... oh... let's say... euthanasia

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm more thankful that these pets have homes as opposed to them being fatties. Yes being obese knocks years off their lives but they live a better life than animals in shelters. Especially those that do not practice "no kill".... which majority of them do not.
