    My crazy powers over electronics

    LOL

I can already tell what you're thinking "What's this? Gandalf the skeptic, talking about mystical powers?" Well, here I am! But of course I think there's nothing mystical about it, there's surely a scientific explanation for it. That being, I think something is messed up with my electro-magnetic field. So, the problem?

Seems that if I spend too much time with any and all electronics, they inevitably start messing up. I'm always extremely careful with everything I've owned or used, but they all inevitably die in my hands. I've had 5 ipods and each and every one started having problems about 3 weeks in, and completely died 1 - 1 1/2 months in. Every videogame controller I handle enough starts to have problems eventually, every alarm clock kept by my bed, every stereo-system I played enough, every computer I sit at long enough (this has spurred me to develop skills in computer repair, on the bright side).

Basically any electronics that I keep close to me will inevitably fail. It's even gotten to the point where my one friend refused to let me touch any of his electronics. This was after I moved in with him and his perfectly-working tv of many years started buzzing loudly right after I touched it, his game controllers started messing up, and his Sandisk MP3 player started gibbling up after I used it. There may be some genetic factor, as my younger (autistic) brother can make radios instantly turn to static noise by putting his hand up to them.

So psycisists, biologists, bio-physicists, scientifically-curious folk, any theories as to what might be causing this, or how I might fix it? Because I tell ya, I've given up on buying any hand-held electronics!

    There is a simple explanation:
Munchausen syndrome by proxy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You have a need to fix small electronics and are projecting 'crash waves' unconsciously that cause them to fail and require your healing touch.

I see in your future... a black and white VW beetle... wait- you guys have Geek Squad in the Great White North?

If I sit right where I am long enough, I will eventually be hit by a meteor.

It's a matter of how long I sit.

Man... thats an interesting thing indeed! I dont know if there is some way to fix it, but maybe you could try to use it to your advantage... have you ever tried making psi-balls, telekinesis, stuff like this? Maybe you could easily suceed in such things...

BTW, as we are talking about crazy ideas, this is a thing that ocurred to me... from what i know, you have a medical condition that couldnt be fixed by any doctors you visited. And there was LOTS of them...
So, have you ever thought about visiting some qi-gong doctor? The crazy idea that ocurred me is that you could have a great amount of this strange "energy" (which causes all this effects on electronics) and the injures in the back you suffered are causing some blockage/misdirection/whatever of this energy, as its said that usually this energies flow by (or near) the spine.
If it were the case, one qi-gong doctor would easily spot if there is such thing like an energetic problem with you, and maybe give some relief...
Note that it is a crazy idea indeed... but as you said you tried everything, why not? I hope some day you find the cure for it, whatever it may be.

Yep I've had a lot of the same problems too. It's hilarious to watch a cash register suddenly mess up when it's my turn to pay as soon as I step in front of it! What's even cooler is if a machine glitches and gives you something free. I used to get free pinball games at every arcade I've been to. There's always at least one machine that will just magically start for me. It's nice to have the power work in my favour, like when someone else has trouble with electronics and I give it a try and it works like magic. But most often it messes things up.

People sensitive to energy could feel the crazy energy I was emitting. The chakras were unbalanced and blocked. That's, of course, the main spots along the spine where the energy flows. Find ways to meditate on opening and balancing your chakras, maybe even go see someone like Coelho suggested.

Ah yes, psychic munchausen's, I remember watching an episode of House about that.

    Never heard of it, sorry.

True that, but I still find it odd that everything electronic (many of which I haven't bothered to mention) gets one problem after another, and doesn't take particularily long to start screwing up (like within a few months). Hand-held devices always go in a few weeks. lol, I keep meeting people with Ipods too, and when I tell them about my 5 ipods that have all died they look mystified and say "well that's strange, I've had mine for 2 years without problems". And I've done a lot of research into how to care for those little bastards (keeping them cool is a sensible one).

eh... I'm much to skeptical for that sort of thing. I would think that if somebody had actually managed to do something so obvious and supernatural, they would have claimed James Randi's Million Dollar Prize by now.

Actually I've done a lot of looking into qigong masters and the like, and would love to visit one if one actually existed in my town. Seems they're very hard to find, at least in my town. Honestly I think the theory of "chi" and the likes is a primitive understanding of the nervous system, but while the theory isn't necessarily so solid (and it still may be!), the method is very real and effective. I've tried some other eastern healing methods myself, they work WAYYYYYY better than any type of western medicine I've tried (especially chiropractic, which is akin to popping a painkiller). Personally I think chi, and meditations to control your chi, are ways of mentally controlling the function of the nervous system; and people undoubtedly don't appreciate or look into the full potential and potential power of our nervous system. An electric eel can electrocute external prey with it's own bio-chemical processes, who knows how far we could learn to control our own?

I think you may have something going there with your theory Coelho. I never had these constant electronic problems when I was a teenager/kid, and I injured my spine when I was 16; the problem started getting worse istead of better when I was 18 and a chiropractor adjusted my neck, sent me to the hospital, and made everything worse since.

Never said these problems utterly dibillitated my computer. But I did say I've learned to fix these problems, and fix them frequently I do. Actually I just had to format my whole system a few days ago; lots a lots of stuff I didn't want to lose .

I've been meaning to do this for a while, just never seem to get the drive up to meditate. Well I'll start kicking my own ass and working on that today. Much thanks for the advice my friend.

Geek Squad is a subsidiary of Best Buy and it's their mobile fix-it division. I don't know if you have Best Buy up there yet either.
The point is: If you have mad skills with electronics, hell, get some business cards printed up and go fix shit, and charge the fuck out of people who can't be bothered to read the manual lol.

    My crazy powers over electronics

This exact thing happened to me last friday at work. EVERYTHING electronic I used malfunctioned while I was using it. Even the urinal broke, I flushed once and it just kept on flushing, I had to get the super to call a plumber.

The computer froze, the printer froze, the copy machine chewed all the paper, my headphones broke (the ipod didnt, though).

And I haven't thought about electric eels in years, theyre freakin awesome

Anyway, that was the most infuriating and frustrating day at work I have ever had, I can't imagine dealing with it all the time.
