Buying time for Pre-employment drug test???

I was wondering if anyone else could offer any advice in this matter. I just got an offer today for a job at a small to medium-sized corporation. It's a professional job and it took 2 weeks of checking references after the interview until they finally FedEx'd my offer.

I start (if I pass the test) in 19 days. I need to buy as much time as possible before the drug test in order to pass because it's a blood test and the only way to beat one of those is with time!

I will talk to the corporate recruiter on Monday and I'm guessing she will likely try to schedule a time for the drug test then. I live an hour away from where my new job is at and I'm still working my old job for another week. I'm hoping that will be enough reason to push the drug test off for another whole week. Who knows? She may get pushy OR maybe they have a clinic located in my town where I can take it.

This is where I need some help. Can anyone offer an experience of how this pre-employment drug testing worked for a white-collar, professional job? Is there anyway that one can put the test off until the very first day of employment?? I would think that this would be acceptable in some instances, especially when the candidate lives far away from the new office and will be relocating. I think I will be able to push it back at least one week....then maybe most of another by saying I'll be on vacation. At some point, it's got to get suspicious though, especially if the woman gets pushy and insistent that it must be taken next week.

Hi, There has been so much discussion about this very subject in just the last few days and there are a few threads just below this one about blood. I personally have come to the conclusion that below is as close as I can find....


Cannabis......BLOOD......SALIVA......SWEAT........ URINE HAIR

(single use)..2-3 days....12-24 hrs...unknown......2-3 days up to 90 days

There's a lot of discrepency out there on the detection time of THC in the blood. It ranges from 1-2 days to 30 days. It seems the consensus on here is about 3 days, maybe 5.

I can kind of understand how the urine tests take longer to become clear. Even though the kidneys are removing the metabolites from your blood and moving them to your urine, they aren't detectable in the blood because of the huge volume of blood in comparison to the volume of urine.

I'd still like to have 2 weeks to be safe because of all the discrepency I see in detection times, I may only get 1 week. I tend to believe the 3-5 day detection time, but I don't want to risk it.

I understand that the blood test only detects for the actual THC and not the metabolites. Wouldn't they have a relatively unbeatable test if they could test for the metabolites in the blood?? I don't know enough about the pharmacology to know if this is even possible, but I better not give anyone any ideas.
