Battling mold in rainy climates
Here is a DIY fungicide mix....dunno if it works tho....
1 heaped tbl spoon of bicarb of soda
1 tbl spoon of neem oil
1/2 tbl spoon soap
1 gallon of water
Some research suggests it works as good as commercial products.
Use of Baking Soda as a Fungicide

Battling mold in rainy climates
just curious, u know that White fluffy looking mold that sometimes will form on old food as well and in time turns into a green dot?
a couple of years ago i had a home made test hydroponic system setup in a really moist weather [with avg humidity of about 50% year round] and it was perhaps the wrong type of soil i used which retained lots of water from tank to the point it remained completely wet and moist at all times, but within less than 48 hours of setup i had the white mold all over the soil inside and on top and my test legal seeds didnt even get to come out so project was cancelled. i even used some fungicide but it didnt help at all
was wondering if solution for such mold is available in plant chemicals introduced here cuz i couldnt find it mentioned! :/

flying, did you have a fan on your grow? and how do you use soil in a hydroponic system? If the dirt was completely wet at all times you were over watering. You want them to be as dry as possible as often as possible. Mold is of course undesirable, but it's not the end of the world or the grow. You can always spray a fungicide, or just start ventilating and stop over watering. Nothing wrong with 50% humidity, since I grow well in 30, and perfect is 60. If you want to alter humidity you can use a humidistat to control fans, or put a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room and let them fight it out.

well i know i used the wrong type of material which was schultz aquatic plant soil
but i thought it would work the same as rockwools, it didnt!
and i didnt have blowing at the system at all, the germinated seeds only came up about an inch or so and then i noticed the mold and by the time i checked it, it was all over the cups and soil i used.
it was a water culture system
and the fungicide i got from walmart to battle mold didnt help.
i know my poroblem was mainly the soil and the air circulation, but was jsut wondering what can kill that white>>green mold? cuz the mold killer i got didnt do it

Battling mold in rainy climates
Hey Guys.. Great thread, I too am very interested in this. I get 150 inches of rain a year, I live in the tropics. I have a huge rainforest jungle in my backyard that i want to put to work. I need a very mold resistant strain.
I've got some Alaskan Ice seeds, also thinking of ordering one or two of the following:
Island Sweet Skunk
Donkey Dick
AMS
AK-48
Any suggestions on a mold resistant fast finishing plant?
Aloha,
punaboi

The Church and AMS both from Greenhouse seeds are supposed to be mold and pest resistant. If you watch the video grow logs for the Church on Youtube, they talk about it being incredibly mold resistant. I'm going to give it a shot. We are heading into the wet season..

Battling mold in rainy climates
I to am dealing with what I think is mold. I have been dealing with ton's of rain. Like a whole week at a time. I have been lucky that the nights only get down to 40 degree's....I have about 3 more weeks to go. Stinky told me about Serenade so I went looking for it and nobody carried the stuff so I had to place an online order for it. It will be here Tuesday and I am going to spray with that stuff. I have noticed that my lower buds the leaves are truning black. I do hope this tuff works. There is nothing like the dissapointment of your weed truning bad on you a few weeks before harvest.
Oh on another note can I harvest if the weather is cloudy??? We are supposed to get sunshine for 5 days...I have one night I will have to cover for frost. I need to the end of October. I love in Maine. We have had rain in the beginning of the summer and rain now....I do grow outside in the ground.
Thanks for the pictures I have one plants thsat has mold and I want to trim it up...Is this possible??? To trim it up??? Will it spread mold spores to my other 12 plants???
