Barak continues his World tour
I really agree, I think He did more in this one speach to uplift the international view of America than mr Bush has done in the past 8 years.
I understand why republicans are so worried, and perhaps trying to discredit him. I agree that there have been some recent 'flip flops' fair enough, but I DONT think this affects his character.
Is it 'flip floping' when you revise your view based on new evidence? May it be contradictory to your old veiw or not ?
I would call it bravery and honesty and living in the moment...
.. But maybe those qualities we would like to have in ourselves are no good in a president ?? I really dont understand all the Barak hatred living in these forums...maybe more based in fear than anything else, yes ?
peace

Absolutely. Bush did a lot to destroy the world's respect for our country. He weakened our friendships. Obama will heal those rifts. We need our friends, and it's not just about "being liked" for the sake of popularity. Having friends and allies helps you get things done.

Some of it is legitimate issues differences. But a lot of it is win-at-any-cost partisanship. And a lot of it is fear and envy, like you mentioned. I think Republicans know this one is out of their reach, and they are reacting with bitterness.

Just saw on the news that he broke away for the ego trip in Germany which was paid by his campaign. LOL....I guess he didn't feel it was right to use these funds to visit wounded troops but it was o.k. to try to put himself in the same light as Kennedy and Reagan. The Associated Press: Obama scraps visit to wounded US troops in Germany
I find the "jealousy" comment amusing. While the Dems cry about the imbalance of "talk radio" on how it leans to the right, they don't mind that t.v. news is doing the same with Obama. Hell, even Obama mentioned that he didn't like the idea of Fox News being on the tube in most of the military bases on his "tour":
When Barack Obama set off on his overseas tour this week, the anchors of the three major broadcast networks were invited along -- but not Chris Wallace of Fox News.
"Apparently on the airplane somebody asked, 'What sort of reaction are you getting from the troops you're visiting with,'" Steve Doocy noted, "and he said, 'Well, you know, wherever I go, Fox is on.'"
Gretchen Carlson then took up the story. "When Obama asked why Fox has the hookup -- he called it 'the hookup' -- he also implied that it was the commander-in-chief's choice to have Fox News there. ... Andrea Mitchell from NBC then chimed in, 'It started with this administration.' Obama smiles, and then Jake Tapper from ABC asks, 'I wonder what cable network you'll pick?'"
The Raw Story | Fox host: Obama accused Fox of 'brainwashing our troops'
I guess Fox is the the bad guys to Obama since they don't "Feel that thrill running up their leg".

Media bias is an issue that the left should really stay away from in this election. Hell, even Clinton stated the same thing when she got railed by the press; "Would you like a pillow?".

So what "new evidence" was behind his yes vote on the FISA bill?

Health care: Currently as of 2006 the amount of Americans with Employer based health insurance was 60%. Since that time in an article by the new york times I believe (I have to find it) says it's risen an additional 6%. That puts us at 66% Americans with insurance.

Obama plans to punish nearly 70% of Americans for 20% of the confirmed population without health insurance.
Taxes: Obama plans on tax cuts across the board with the exception of corporations and the rich. While this may sound good on paper how do you think Companies will try to recoup their costs (which honestly his tax proposal looks pretty horrendous for companies). They will increase the price of their products, they will cut jobs; effectively raising the unemployment percentage, and they will probably lower the salary of all new positions that open. Overall giving either NO or a smaller pay check to good old Citizen Joe blow
War: Obama has been preaching before about how he was against the war, but in his short time in the Senate he's voted FOR about 20 Major pro war bills. Maybe it's just me but if you believe in something I think you should stand up and let your voice be heard, not pretend to be for something when you're not or go with the flow because it's easier.
Voting This is a man who misses something of like 2/3 of his votes (I forgot the exact figure but it was LARGE). I mean he's a no vote or a no show most of the time. How can you trust a person who doesn't even take the time to vote on issues to lead our country?
I can go on and on, and maybe I will... but for now I gotta drive into the office.

Ha ha!
This thread is about Obama's world tour, which has been an amazing success, and specifically his HUGE reception in Germany, where he made a GREAT speach to 200,000 people. But since there is no real criticism that can be made about the tour itself, the anti-Obama folks go off topic into the issues that have been debated a thousand times already in numerous threads throughout this forum.
If you want to switch the topic guys, don't go negative --- it just looks so sad and petty. Try to keep positve. Maybe say something positive about McCain --- like maybe point out what a great idea McCain had when he suggested Obama go on this tour! Good job, McCain! That was a GREAT idea!

Next up is France and then Great Britain. These should be pretty good stops too --- Sarkozy is fairly pro-American and Great Britain is our best ally.
McCain is not to be outdone, however --- he is planning to serve French Toast and English Muffins at an IHOP in Boca Raton, Florida.

Of course the Europeans love Barack, he's JUST like them! I really like how when he was in Germany he never visited our injured troops BUT he did get a good work out.
