Obama vows support for Israel
Barack Obama, the US Democratic presidential candidate, has said he backs Israel's decision not to negotiate with the Palestinian group Hamas.
Speaking in the Israeli town of Sderot, which has been hit by rocket attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza, Obama said the US also supported Israel's right to defend itself "against those who threaten its people".
He also reiterated his position that Jerusalem "will be" the capital of Israel.
However the Illinois senator, currently on the final leg of his Middle East tour, said that he believed the city to be a "final status issue" that must be decided by negotiation and said he remained committed to a two-state solution to the conflict.
The status of Jerusalem remains one of the most contentious parts of any solution to the Middle East conflict.
In June Obama caused anger in the Arab world when he said that Jerusalem should be Israel's undivided capital.
The international community, including the United States, does not recognise Israel's claim that Jerusalem is its undivided capital and Palestinians hope to have occupied East Jerusalem as the capital of any future Palestinian state.

JERUSALEM â?? Sen. Barack Obama's Chicago church reprinted a manifesto by Hamas that defended terrorism as legitimate resistance, refused to recognize the right of Israel to exist and compared the terror group's official charter â?? which calls for the murder of Jews â?? to America's Declaration of Independence.
The Hamas piece was published on the "Pastor's Page" of the Trinity United Church of Christ newsletter reserved for Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose anti-American, anti-Israel remarks landed Obama in hot water, prompting the presidential candidate to deliver a major race speech earlier this week.

This is from when he couldn't denounce his church in any way......so where does this assclown really stand on the Israel issue? It's hard to be all things to everyone....

Frankly, I still don't know why ANYONE recognizes Israel. They stole a country, and we advocate it. Uh, what?
In the event that I'm wrong on the Palestinians being there first, the Israeli's definitely WEREN'T there first. I'd concede that perhaps they were both there at the same time period or so, but the Israeli's really have no legitimate claim to that area whatsoever.
Then again, we don't have one single logical reason for why we (or a lot of us) live in the U.S. We REALLY stole that shit. Gotta love manifest destiny.... I guess that kinda makes me a hypocrite. Eh fuck it.

Yes they were. Historically, the Jew's resided there since the beginning of history. I believe it formed from Mesopotamia. They broke away from the Roman Empire several times to establish the state of Israel but were defeated.
History states the Jew's first appeared in the area around 3,000+ years ago. Not to mention Muslims, for the most part, are nothing more than Jews who converted to the Islam a long time ago.
They have gained and lost control of the region many times over the course of history.

Not to mention EVERYONE in history has "stolen" the land they now reside in. Whether it be stolen from their own people or kind to other "tribes" and nations.
