Democratic Landslide Coming this November
Energy will definitely be a huge issue, but I'm not sure it will work in favor of McCain or Republicans in general. When the economy is bad during an election, it hurts the party holding the White House, whether that is justified or not. I think the same thing may happen with these energy issues --- people will blame Bush and Republicans.

It may be that people are not as excited to jump on the drilling and nuclear bandwagon as you think. I am definitely concerned about the price of energy, but I am not in favor of offshore drilling. I think this oil price madness is more of a sign that petroleum is about to fail us, no matter how much more land we open to drilling, and we need to move on to alternatives. A lot will depend on who wins THAT argument.
